But this article also makes me laugh at all the people(mjs) who constantly guaranteed us that the Bucs would no way, no how offer Simms a big dea until after the 2006 season!!

Actually a few posters, me included, said Simms would not accept the sort of offer he rejected.   It sounds like they offered him a deal that had practically the same impact on this years cap as the tender.  That deal wasn’t a Big contract for a QB.  It sounds similar to what a 5th or 6th draft pick would get.

Its all moot now, get over it, the blue eyed boy is down the road.

I'm glad the deal didn't pan. Granted, Bruce has only played one game, but I like what he brings to the position. Mobility... Something we haven't had in a long time, if ever really. I hope Bruce pans out and wish Chris the best next year... on another team...

GB already have a QB behind Favre.  Simms will probably be a back-up next season.

10 million over 5 years is not a big contract for a QB.   Simms will still end up making more than that.   I'm predicting he's the starter in Green Bay within the next 2 years.  Rodgers isn't the man there.

The deal wasn't for $10 million, he is saying that was the guaranteed money.  It was probably a $25 million 5 year deal, which is still on the low side compared to recent deals.

thats what i was trying to say.....too long of a deal and too little money for a guy who was thought to be the starter for awhile, i can understand why he turned it down.

Whatever he was offered and the reasons for turning it down, I still feel for the guy right now.  He is sat watching Grads play well and Gruden loves the kid and poor Chris is recovering from major surgery.

If you listened to SR lastnight he said Simms is kidding himself right now.  He basically said it is Grads's job to lose and if he performs OK over the next couple of games they will activate McCown and Simms will move to IR.
