I'll give you Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and maybe Italy, but Spain???

points out that there are other great countries out there besides the US.

Why is it a bad arguement? If you favor socialism, why do you hang out in America? Go to Europe and you will live a happier life if that is what you want. But no... instead you have to stay here, force everyone to live under your system, and make everyone's life miserable. The government will take more of my money and throw a heathcare card I dont even want back at my face. I dont want to be part of this universal healthcare system. But somehow I doubt the socialists will allow me to opt out of it.

Get a wiff of the American spirit and get a real job that has health care benefits. If I dont have something, I look for who does and go there. As an American I know that I could be laid off and my family will struggle and possibly lose my home and not be able to buy milk or diapers. I know that and constantly prepare for that to occur and make plans to prevent it. Thats the problem. Some people think their entitled to have a job , entitled to have help to make ends meet when in trouble. That isnt and shouldn't be the case.

You have to have a carrot to make people get off their arse and work. Health Benefits are the carrott, Money is the carrott.

People say that because when I visit Mexico and Central America, People virtually beg me to bring them to the US. They tell me of the DREAM the US is and how they would dream of living here where everyone has a chance. They wish they would struggle like the people in the Obama video. So when you have people here who obviously do not have a clue what hard times are and complain about the US you tell them to leave. So they can get a little perspective.

And you will see lots of people do that in the coming years. I know people that moved here from Europe simply because of the run-away socialism and immigration that is occuring over there. For the first time in its history....people will be immigrating OUT of America.

i happen to believe we are the greatest country in the world.  i'm not saying you should feel that way, i simply do.  the numbers of those flocking here is a pretty good testimony to their agreement, but even they aren't all right.

Because that's a stupid mentality. You're basically saying I dont care if this country has flaws and sucks, it is what it is so if you don't like it - leave.

Your mentality should be "Wow, maybe we COULD improve our healthcare system. Maybe it's true and we're NOT the best in the world, so let's do whatever we can to try and be the best possible."

But that requires humility and the ability to admit you have flaws.. Not in the AMURRRICANNN guide to life.



And clearly, this is not the best country in the world (whatever that means?). You can look at statistics like obesity, standard of living, average lifespan, quality of medical care and I'm sure a thousand other things.. none of which clearly crown America king of countries.

It's the mentality that we are the best that has caused us to fall off our plateau. Pretty hard to stay the best when you get fat and lazy so that the ingenuity and creative melting pot that got us there ceases to exist.
