NFL Network is reporting that Troy Vincent has been released.  I have not watched many Bills games and am not sure if he has lost a step.  Could he be an option for the Bucs???

If he's still got any talent at all, he's an upgrade over Phillips.

I believed that he was released because he was able to pass his physical and the Bills coudn't keep him on IR. As old as he is, he's still an upgrade at the S position.

He had a ham string injury and was on minor injured reserve according to Sports Illustrated. He is totally well now. I don't know what all this means or if he would be able to play for another team or not.

Troy Vincent is not coming to Tampa.  He is old, and the Bucs need more youth to continue this rebuilding project.

RedAlert has it down.

Older yes, but if it's also better, than I'll take that in a heartbeat.

If a 35 year old safety who has collected a whopping total of one tackle this year makes us better, then we truly live in a bizzarro universe...

Defense can't get much worse, so I'm for anything that makes it better whether that be a 35-year-old Vincent, a 90-year-old grandfather or the beer vendor for section 332. Bizarro universe or not, something has got to change whether that be new people or the people that are there playing better.

given the fact that the bucs have worked out the likes of todd bouman & stefan lefors in response to one problem area, i don't see why they wouldn't extend an invite to troy to at least have a workout in tampa in response to another problem area.  right now, jermaine phillips' biggest problem appears to be above the shoulders, and we know troy is intact up there. right now, phillips is the most experienced Safety on this team, and that may be part of the problem with this unit.

I'd take him for a low 1 year contract.

Hell yes for the short term.  He is a leader and a gamer.  Who else is there to groom right now that's starter material?  Phillips is a failed vet.
