It has us passing on Joe Thomas and Gaines Adams with the 4th pick to take Calvin Johnson on the principle that despite our bigger needs, he's just too good.

I'll be happy with whoever we get at 3 or 4.  I just don't see Bruce Allen or Gruden making the wrong pick after coaching the Senior Bowl.

They had us picking 4th.  I'll edit that into the original.

Good luck with that on draft day.  Franchise left tackles don't come around often and they never hit FA.

I could definitely see Branch going to Cleveland. They need an anchor for their 3-4 and Romeo needs his own Richard Seymour.

I love Calvin Johnson and wouldn't be upset one bit if we took him but unfortunately for us we took a guard in the first round last year and passed on a few good LT's and LT's are very important in the NFL, we can't afford to take Johnson in my book.

With a very good line, a QB could be given enough time to make subpar or average WRs look good(see Philly, Seattle, Baltimore, NO, etc.). With an elite WR, a subpar LT will still be subpar and if a QB is on his ass on most plays, an elite WR won't look like an elite WR alot of times (See Andre Johnson).

Agreed LT is much more valuable.

Well if they take Thomas then the draft would look like this, from what we know as of 1/10/07...

1. Oakland- Jamarcus Russell
2. Detroit- Joe Thomas
3. Bucs- Calvin Johnson/ Brady Quinn
3. Browns- Adrian peterson/Brady Quinn

That is how I would see things being played out shout Thomas be off the board and depending on where we pick 3 or 4th. I would say Gaines Adams but I feel good about our chances of bringing back White and signing another DE. So I would say if Thomas is a goner it would be Calvin Johnson or Brady Quinn...

The "nightmare" scenario starts with "we lose to coin flip. We're 4th and the draft runs:

1. OAK Calvin
2. DET Adams
3. CLE Thomas
4. Tampa

Now we're staring a BPA of Russell or Quinn in the face. I can't see DET going DE at that spot over LOT so that likely doesn't happen and CLE, given their system, won't be much after Adams so I see this as a highly unlikely situation. I think we're bound to get one of those top 3 guys.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.
