Slovenian Martin Strel plans to swim the 3,375 miles down the Amazon river "for world peace and environment."

His plan seems a little sketchy to me, though.

"My escort boats will carry all the time buckets of fresh blood to pour in the water in case the piranhas or other fish attack me," Strel said with a thick Slovenian accent.

So, when he's attacked they're going to pour buckets of blood into the water. Hmm...

The story mentions snakes, along with poisonous insects, crocodiles, piranhas, fresh water stingrays, bullsharks, electric eels, Pororoca (regular ocean waves channeled and focused by the river until they're about 13 ft. tall) and the feared candiru, a tiny fish that, upon detecting urine in the water, will swim into your penis and lodge themselves there using spines, becoming nearly impossible to dislodge without slicing the urethra open. But hey, no problem, just throw some more chum in the water and he'll be fine.

In an update to this story, the crew said that after they bring us world peace they'll be announcing their plans to control wildfires using surplus fuel oil.
