Some talk around that the Bucs will make a run at Byron Leftwich. They'd be pretty pleased to see Luke and Leftwich battle it out for the starting spot, with the best man winning and a solid backup as a result. Plus, they'd be pretty happy to be able to jettison Brian Griese, who isn't held in the same esteem by the current HC and OC as the previous HC/OC.

The triumvirate at QB for the Bucs in 2009 could well be Leftwich, McCown and Johnson.

I don't think there's a single other HC in the whole NFL who holds Griese in the same esteem as Gruden.

\"We are frustrated at not making the playoffs. It is a good start. That is all it is. It is a good start for something that we are going to be in the future. - Josh Freeman

I heard that rumor...not really as big a priority since we signed Luke but if this means the end of Brian Griese in a Buc uniform I am all for it.

Yikes. And I thought last year's QB situation was bad. Hope this isn't true.

Yuck, and do not ever call Luke McCown a "solid backup" again. Where do you get this stuff, dude is 1-6 in his pro career.

I think the Vikings are going to make a strong push for Byron as well. Its slim pickings as far as this year's FA QBs are concerned.

I'm for McCown, Johnson, Freeman as in Josh in the Draft it's a young group so maybe take out Freeman and throw in a QB with some
experience  you could throw in Losman instead of Freeman but otherwise I like it.

Please leave your message after the beep.BEEP!!!

Imo, we would do better with McCown than Leftwich. BL's better years are behind him, and he wasn't even all that good to begin with.

I think this is all crap. This sounds like something Gru would've done, not Morris and Co.

Bucs Front Office out shopping for "Quality" quarterbacks to 'compete' with our prior 3rd stringer?

Re-signing Luke and possibly obtaining Leftwich are logical choices.

Yea,  Now we'll have 3 third stringers fighting for the starting job.

Byron is a good secondary backup if nothing else.

There is nothing in free agency and drafting is going to give us an unproven player. Trading may be an opportunity to pick someone up who has presence, but even that is a scarce opportunity.
