Word has it the Bucs plan to make a big splash as soon as free agency opens, and are planning to make a quick move to support the defense. The latest information says the Bucs are expecting to make a $10 million dollar per year contract offer to a big name defender. Though the player named by the rumor is coming off an injury and is 33-years-old, there's the expectation that he can return to the form he displayed when he notched his best statistical season about 5 or 6 years ago.

Looks like the Bucs aren't planning to sit still.

I'd be really disappointed if we paid $10 million for any player that is 33 years old.

Are you being sarcastic, and saying the Bucs won't sign Briggs, and instead keep Brooks at WLB?
Wow, that thought went over my head....whoops.
I just thought that because 10 mil+ for a 33 year old is too much.

10 mil in FA for a 33 year old is too much, no matter who it is...

I can't tell if he's serious or not..Brooks would be 34 around FA and his best season will be 5 years removed.

I don't expect DTG to name him, though I'd appreciate it if he would, or at least say if it's DB.

Says coming off injury. DB was not injured this past season (that I know of)

MBF:

Congratulations, you were very close. You certainly pegged my intention. I was actually talking about Simeon Rice. I wondered how many people who would prefer to keep Simeon here instead of trying to trade him for something would also be happy if the Bucs went out and dropped $10 million in salary cap on a 33-year-old defender who is coming off an injury last season. I was curious if there's a difference in how it would be viewed, whether or not Sim being "ours" already casts his situation in a more favorable light among fans.

So would you be happy if the Bucs went out and spent $10 million in cap money on a 33-year-old who is coming off an injury?
Nope.
