Giants won't rule out Ward;

-- Giants GM Jerry Reese said it's still possible the team could bring back Derrick Ward despite signing Brandon Jacobs to a lucrative contract.

"Never say never with Derrick Ward," Reese told New York's WFAN. "It’s not over. A lot of things can happen. You never know what will happen. Derrick Ward is not gone yet."

Steve Wyche (never heard of him) on NFL Network said Bucs will be ALL OVER Ward if he hits free agency. I could live with that. At least Berman could trot out the tired sound effect he used for Alstott all those years.

If we can't get Bush, I'd take Ward in a heartbeat...

Got to have "nuts" in some nickname -- how about Almond Joy, Mars and Mounds? Or M&Ms plain, peanut and peanut butter. :)

They're hoping the same thing happens this year with Ward that occured last year - when Ward didn't even get a sniff from anyone...I think their hopes will be dashed - the dude ran for 1,000 on split carries. I think he could carry the load here with Grahamer and Peanut.

A few more numbers on running back Derrick Ward, who I mentioned as a possibility for Tampa Bay in the last post:

Most Yards Per Rush (2008 Season)

Derrick Ward: 5.6
DeAngelo Williams: 5.5
Brandon Jacobs: 5.0
Chris Johnson: 4.9
Derrick Ward: Yards Per Rush By Quarter in 2008

1st: 3.9
2nd: 5.5
3rd: 4.6
4th: 6.7
OT: 18.2
Again, I think there's a chance you could see the Bucs, who have more cap room to play with than anybody, make a run at Ward. Picture him paired with Earnest Graham. Could be interesting.
