ESPN's Michael Smith reports that the Cowboys have released Terrell Owens.

If so, they're getting the move out of the way early. Owens' $3.1 million offseason roster bonus wasn't due until June. The move results in a small cap hit, but saves Jerry Jones $5.77 million in cash. Owens still has a lot left -- he averaged 18.9 yards per catch and scored five touchdowns in the Cowboys' last eight games. He'll likely draw interest from the Raiders. Teams needy at receiver but not expected to pursue him include Chicago, Philadelphia, and Miami.

The Dallas Cowboys have released controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith late Wednesday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did not deny the team is discussing the possible release of Owens in late February.

"That Stephen and I were debating about Terrell, that's just misinformation," Jones said regarding his son, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones at the time. "That's just not accurate. I don't know where that comes from. That's just total misinformation."

The Cowboys paid Owens a $12 million signing bonus just last year, included as part of a new four-year, $34 million deal.

Owens caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

He wont come here. I would like him though. Imagine our offense with Bryant, Owens, KW2, Ward, and Graham. Our offense would be too tough. I dont care who is throwing the ball.

I love his production, but he is the "Anti-Raheem" Player, IMO. Curious to see where this goes....

You're right.  Could you imagine the head games he would play with Luke?  Many here are wondering what we have in Luke, can't imagine a 3rd and 7 where he doesn't throw it to T.O. and T.O. goes nuts on him.  He did it to Garcia, he did it to McNabb, he did it to Romo.  He will do it again.

Dude, you really are not that bright about matters such as this are you?

Do you think they would all have good convo?  They would work on the field together?

There is only one damn football on the field.

Graham, Ward, Mr. Winslow, Bryant, AND **CENSORED**bag?  I mean, no.

Hell no.

He is a cancer, and has proved it everywhere he goes.  He sells jerseys and tickets, but how many Cowboy fans are weeping for the loss of their jersey, because now all of them will want to burn it...

It makes me laugh.

T.O. is a turd.  I can see him going to New England, because they can dump him without batting a lash.

It is a lot of egos in one locker room already. We dont need another, but admit it if they put the bs aside they would be able to put together a very good offense. Its already been tried though with the cowboys and eagles. I think we all know how that went. I think it will be tougher for TO to go somewhere than we think.
