I've seen them but have not used them...

How does the system work?

Do you have to be some kind of a member to rent one?

It's very simple, no membership required. You rent with a credit card, which is billed $0.99. When you return the DVD, it charges you $0.99 per day you had it (less the original $0.99). You can return it to any kiosk, even in another state (great for travellers).

so if you never return the dvd, what is the charge then?

$25+tax

They also sell dvds in some kiosks for $7.99

They're in Charleston.

Tried one out this last weekend to get the kiddie a movie.   $1 per day (plus tax)...   and $1 for every day afterwards...

I suck at returning movies on time...  Netflix is the real answer (at least for me.)

Red box is great, if you rent movies and return it the next day. I tend to keep movies for several days so I use Blockbuster Online. For 18 dollars a month, its not that bad. Plus Blockbuster carries new international films and other old movies as well.
