Yea I know another Cutler thread, but I was just glancing at his contract numbers, and I'm beginning to think that Cutler could stay in Denver if they give him a new contract.  I think the reason he is making this fuss is because he wants to be guaranteed to make some money.

Check it out.

In 2009, he will earn 1.035 million
In 2010, he will earn 1.4225 million + a 4 million roster bonus
in 2010, he will earn 1.81million + 12 million roster bonus

So I guess he feels that he has to prove himself the next year to be able to get them additional 16 million dollars or the Head Coach could cut him lose.  Again, I like everyone else, hopes he is traded, but I have a feeling this could still get resolved if they make those million dollar roster bonuses guaranteed.

7/27/2006: Signed a six-year, $47.86 million contract. The deal contains $11 million guaranteed, including a $1.7 million signing bonus. 2009: $1.035 million (+ $100,000 workout bonus), 2010: $1.4225 million (+ $4 million roster bonus), 2011: $1.81 million (+ $12 million roster bonus) 2012: Free Agent.

I agree.  Add in the thought from Cutler and Cook that the Broncos would clearly have had plans on extending Cassell if they traded for him with a big deal...now Cutler's thinking "why not me too"?

I think it's both...Cutler got his feelings hurt and the agent is using it as an opportunity to escalate it to a trade demand with an eye on a new contract with mucho guaranteed $$$.

His agent wants a new contract.
3% of $8 million or $15 million or whatever he would get is a whole lot more than the 3% of $1 million he's going to get with the old contract.

We'll, you can flush that $100,000 2009 workout bonus down the drain.
