If nothing else, this will make for some interesting pre-draft drama.  I agree, it should be interesting.

Why would Denver come out and say this?

Denver Broncos draft Aaron Curry 1st overall.......

Nobody wants that 1st overall pick, for financial reasons.

Oh so true, while the Lions do indeed have leverage, it's not that much better than anyone else's. Why pin xx% of your cap to one guy?? That's what happens when you get the #1 pick.

Jay may not want to play for those D-bags.   He could refuse to sign a new contract and have some say in where he lands.

I have a feeling this will last til the draft and the Lions will be on the clock and will use up their time then the commish will come out and announce either:
1. There has been a trade, The Lions have acquired QB Jay Cutler from the Denver Broncos for the #1 pick in the draft

Or There has been a trade, The Bucs acquire Jay Cutler in from Denver for the #19 pick, a 2010 1st round pick and a 4th round conditional pick next year
(I don't like what we would have to give up for him)

2. Or with the 1st pick in the 2009 NFL draft the Lions select......

THE ENTIRE SEASON will be flipped right-side-up if we can land Cutler or not.  The guy threw for 4,500 yards last year.   How do you NOT give up two #1s for this guy?  is a #1 draft pick going to even throw for half that in the next two years?

Yes, he's a cry baby, but I think he'll be the man here.  Unfortunately, i think the Jets have a knack for signing big names, because of the NY market.   they also have a knack for overpaying for talent as if money was no object.    The Bucs are the opposite of that, so Im not optomistic.  I'm going to be so pissed if we lose him in a bidding war to the Jets.  Signing this guy will save the franchise and shut up ALL the critics!  it will also bring us to the forefront of the NFL media blitz and put Tampa on the map again!    DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Said it before and saying it now...

"If you can get Cutler and they are willing to trade him you (Dominik) better make  damn sure to do everything in your power to get him. 2 1st alone, 2 1st and player, whatever....you do it."

I'm going to be pissed if we cheapskate out on this because sure we need alot of things but a franchise QB can cover up a lot of problems. We have a young OL, some backs, a TE in his prime. I mean this is a no brainer....

the best thign we have working for us is we're an NFC team.   Jets wont want him going to the Jets.  For once, a lower bid might still win the deal.
