If they start BL, we're picking in the top 10. And the Glazers are going to be extremely P.O

Standards aren't very high if you are excited about Leftwich. JJ now gets less reps and loses critical chance to develop. Too bad.

I agree with you.   If they are rebuilding, this is not the direction to go.

YAY!!! WE GOT OUR FRANCHISE QB!!!!!  ;D

We're SET for the next 5-8 years!

If Gruden had signed this guy, people would be throwing a fit.
I think half the people would be pleased as punch because it was a Gruden signing and the other half would hate it because he is Chris Simms.

If the Bucs draft a QB in this years draft I do not think JJ would be in their plans IMO.

PR and KFFL aren't reporting Leftwich signing w/ the Bucs yet. Curious how accurate this thread is.

I think this show the confidence in McCown by the coaching staff.  If they didn't have confidence in McCown they would of brought in a higher profile QB or waited and drafted one in the first round.  The Bucs were going to bring in a 4th qb anyway.  he will compete with Greise as the veteran QB on the roster.

the coaching staff never said the starting job was McCown's.  They said the would have a fair chance to compete for it.  And what high profile QB is there to bring in?  They tried to trade for Cutler twice already.

If he beats out McCown for the starting role then let him have it....two words sum this up pretty nicely. STOP GAP

and wasn't that one of the major reasons Gruden got fired?

Yes it was because he never really groomed a young QB.  Lefty, and even McCown says that about this team right now that they are not grooming a young QB.  However, this draft has yet to happen either, Freeman may still be an option for this team as much as some hate that notion.

I'll be very surprised if the Bucs don't take a DE at 19.

Leftwich does have a big wind-up, but this isn't a WCO, which is what he was trying to run in Atlanta.  He looked much better in his start at Pitt last year, and their attack will look more similar to the Bucs.  Run first and then throw downfield off play-action.  Wind-up matters much less in that type of offense.

It's a good signing.

PR confirms the story?
