Wish the Bucs would have traded him to the Raiders so that the pick might have been sooner in that round.  Glad they got something for him though, just hate it being the Pats since, as stated earlier, seems like the Pats always end up on the best end of a trade.  But maybe it turns out to be a 3rd or something (hey, just hoping).

K2 is a much more complete TE than Smith but I have concerns about his durability. Would have liked to see this trade happen during pre-season.
Why do you necessarily have to be wrong just because a few million people think you are?

You guys overrated some players so bad and Alex Smith is one of them. He is nothing more than an average TE in this league. Stevens> Smith, Winslow> Smith, Gilmore=Smith.

Gilmore is twice the blocker Smith is. That's why he stays and Smith goes. This is a good trade for both teams, since Smith was headed for the cut list anyhow. At least the Bucs received something in return.

BTW, they tried to trade him during the draft and had no takers.

That's not a surprise. I'd rather have Shawn Nelson than Alex Smith and he was a 4th rounder this year. If we got a 4th or better from the Pats, I'd be extremely impressed.

Could it be performance based DTG?  or are we looking at just a 6th or 7th rounder straight up

Let's hope that Smith has a really good year.  In hoping that the "undisclosed" pick is a conditional pick.
