The Chiefs just released Johnston a late round draft pick in 2008. At 6'5 275 pounds Johnston is a sub 4.70 forty guy, had 21 sacks, 55 tackles for loss, 69 QB hurries, 6 passes broken up, 10 forced fumbles. He compares to Arron Kampman of the Packers.

Is he worth a look? It was rumored that the Bucs were interested in Johnston before the 2008 draft and even attended his pro day. He appeared in limited action last season, but at age 24, if he shows that explosive first step quickness do the Bucs have a need to where a player like Johnston might be a good fit.

Back in 2008 he was a player that I read a lot about, and even seen reports were the team had an interest in him.

The obvious question is why did the Chiefs just dump the guy if he's actually got talent? As a late rounder, can't be a cap issue...
They just don't know what they have in him yet....sorta like we have at the QB position!  These guy's just need the opportunity!

Bring back GRUDEN!!!

NotDeadYet - It might come down to a scheme stand point, with the Chiefs switching to a 3-4, he might not be stout enough to play on the edge in a 3-4, but  I think he struggled with injuries last season.

i thought he had all the talnt in the world, i started him and dre moore, neither got above 79.  dre got 8 sacks one year, but next year he flopped.  brian couldnt get above 3 sacks in a year.  i ended up drafting a DE.  who became a HOF.  this is all on madden btw

Hes too big for OLB in a 3-4 and too small for DE in 3-4.
