Colts | Manning could restructure contract
Tue, 6 Feb 2007 07:20:03 -0800

Joanne Korth, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning is expected to restructure his contract this offseason to provide salary cap room for the club. Manning could be asked to convert an upcoming roster bonus into a signing bonus, which would save the team $8 million in cap room.

I guess this is how they will be able to franchise Freeney

That'll go a long way to it.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

Don't do it Manning!!!!!

That will probably cause them more cap problems in about 2 to 3 years

Hopefully, for the Bucs sake, he doesn't because if he restructures his contract, then the Colts would have enouogh money to sign Dwight Freeney or Cato June and I want the Bucs to take a look at them in free agency.

he is going to do so we need to get ready to move on from the thinking of getting June for a Buc LB

Well, more likely getting Freeney is what won't happen.

It certainly will with his escalating salary in 2008:

2007: 1 million
2008: 11.5 million
2009: 14 million
2010: 15.8 million
2011: 14 million
2012: 14 million

How does Peyton Manning earn only 1 million dollars in 2007?

He also received a $34.5 million dollar signing bonus on his 7-year deal, so he isn't hurting financially.   :o

Cooper? Did he play football?

Yes:

Cooper Manning, Archie's oldest son, was born in 1974. The only Manning brother not playing professional football, he was a standout wide receiver at the Isidore Newman School. During his senior year he was selected to the all-state team, the same season his brother Peyton started at quarterback as a sophomore.

Cooper was heavily recruited by Division I powerhouses Texas, Virginia and Ole Miss, but was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in 1992.
