1-7 career record...Browns didn't want him, Gruden didn't want him, Raheem doesn't want him enough said!

Browns didnt want him, yet spent a 4th round pick on him?
Gruden didnt want him, yet traded a 6th round pick for him and kept him around through unfortunate injuries?
Raheem doesn't want him, yet he made it clear to Luke he did and is letting him compete to start?

The problem with Luke isn't talent or production, its his consistency. He has a bad play or two that hurts the team a lot but he has shown flashes of a very capable starter. Who knows what would have happened in 2006 if Luke doesn't blow out his knee in OTA's and it is him and not Gradkowski.. he may have ended up the franchise guy by now.

Nobody here can really say much else about him and the only way were gonna find out what we got is to let him compete and let him play.

You don't get it:

-Everywhere the guy went coaches saw potential but in the end nobody wants the guy...maybe the Arena2 will take him and keep him.

End of discussion my ass. McCown was traded away because a new regime came in and we all know that new regimes = new QBs. Gruden never played him because despite him being a good coach, the man is absolutely awful at evaluating talent and its why hes unemployed right now. Leftwich was brought in to push Luke and Raheem drafted Freeman to bring a long-term plan and some stability to this franchise, something Gruden never brought in. McCown is being given a great opportunity which is something he has not had yet and now he will finally get a chance to show whether or not he can be a legit starter.

Im not saying Luke is better then anybody im just saying He has the potential to be good. I was just naming another qb that had a bumpy road but finally got his chance and did good. theres more Warner,Johnson,Romo. I will stick up for Mccown until I actually see what he can do if he suck i'll admit I was wrong.

I'll say it then. Luke is the best option we have. I pray he delivers. IMO we should have kept J.Garcia for this year. I mean it's about winning, right?

I still believe that the Bears are still going to be average, and getting two firsts isn't a bad thing if you are denver. For the next two seasons they'll at least have FOUR 1st round picks. And chances are that they will get 15 and higher on both picks each season. Losing Cutler might actually be a better thing than most of us initially thought. I'm not at all saying McDaniels is doing anything good out there by losing Cutler, but from a growth standpoint, it's not too bad of a start for a team that had a disgruntled "Elite" QB. The Broncos have very little to work with this season however.

Ever notice how Luke's detractors can't even get his won loss record correct? He started four games as a rookie on a crappy Cleveland Brown team and three games for the Bucs and somehow has a 1-7 record. His single win was the only game in which Gruden played all of his starters. He completed 15 consecutive passes in his first start and had a QB rating over 100 in his three starts and 91 overall in the five games he played in that year. That is an outstanding performance for a seasoned veteran QB and he's not. In actual game experience he's still a rookie, yet some here expect error free play from him. Why the higher standard? Griese is prone to interceptions and every play is a busted play with Garcia and they are loaded with "experience". You can't expect perfection from a guy who has started five games with first string players. Just for the record, Luke didn't lose those SIX starts by himself. He had help.

IMO Jon Gruden chose experience over talent and ability and it cost him his job. Gruden is great at Xs and Os but sucks when it comes to personnel decisions. His foul mouth and Luke's religious obsession were not a good match. Morris will give Luke a fair shot until Freeman is ready to take over (skill and ability>experience) and Luke will have enough exposure to latch on with another team. Some here will then complain about the Bucs letting another good QB get away. Some people just can't be happy unless they have something to complain about.

2004 for Cleveland Browns:

Luke's first game is while the team is in week 13 at which point the team is 3-8.

1. vs. New England Patriots Lost 42 - 15. Even with his team leading by 35 in the third quarter, Patriots coach Bill Belichick refused to call off his defense and continued to blitz rookie quarterback Luke McCown, who was making his first start. After reading the game reports, looking at stats etc. I agree that Luke McCown sucks and should never play another down of Football.  It is very obvious to me that he ruined a great Browns team season by his crappy performances.  A stellar defense and injury free team would have made the super bowl if he could have just pulled it together.
