One of the problems, is all these bills have charts laying out the costs but at the top, in little tiny print are the words "all numbers in billions". So at a glance, 23 or 476 or 1,189 don't look all that enormous. I think all spending bills should have to list all costs in complete decimal form. When people start seeing pages of 23,000,000,000 and 476,000,000,000 and 1,189,000,000,000 then maybe they might go "whoa, what the heck??"

Like the article I put on the board today - it's happening - folks are either doing the math - or finding out the values are too big for the calculators - and that is making them uncomfortable.

Since I'm in "solving the Countries problems" mode; I also think the House and Senate need a rule whereby all new bills must be presented orally, in their entirety, by the author. Those 1,400 page cap and trade bills will suddenly get shorter and simpler.

I am still laughing at Waxman's response when asked if he read the Carbon Tax/Cap and Trade /Global Warming bill.  Laughingly said - 'did i read it, well I am familiar with it'.  Should have been enough to get him a ticket back to California looking for work.

Just recalling 174,600 a year, to read, discuss and vote.  And only the vote happens.  Cut his salary and benefits by 2/3s and let's hear that laugh again...
