Go this website and check it out yourself:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/playerStats?categoryId=105980

It lists 100% all four years. I can go to ESPN and get it for you as well if you like.  I don't know where that Seattle game comes from, as neither Fox or ESPN give me that.

I hate doing this but I gotta agree with Duemig on this.  Matt's a solid 80% kicker. Nugent is no where close to that and his kick offs ain't nothing to write home about.  I think we give Matt a better chance and/or opportunity to get healthy.

Without Carl Nix it feels like our running game just took a death blow to the face!

Unless ESPN lies Bryant also missed 40-49 yarders against: Minnesota and Carolina last year, Detroit in 07, 2 against ATL in 06 and again against Seattle

Umm Nugent is a solid 81% kicker also

Umm no he didn't:
WEEK   OPP   RESULT   1-19    20-29    30-39    40-49    50+    TOT    PCT    AVG    LNG    XPM    XPA    PTS

7   SEA    W 20-10    0/0     2/2    0/0    0/1     0/0    2/3    66.7    27.0    27    2    2    8

Err, sorry to break it to you, that is over 40 yards, not under.  He was 2 for 2 that week.  Try again.

I misstyped above.  I meant to say 30-39 yards, not 40-49 yards.  My bad.

I did state correctly at under 40 yards however.

Nugent is somewhat solid.  You will not be saying that when screaming at the TV when he misses an extra point.  He does that at least once a year.  he also will miss from closer range occasionally.  Not frequently, but he has never been automatic.  That is the knock against him. I should know, I watched him blow more than one game for the Jets these last three years.

Believe what you want, the truth will come out during the season and I will be amazed if he lasts more than one year in Tampa when this blog is long forgotton.

By the way, I looked it up. Bryant in all four sesaons for Tampa made 100% of his kicks 40-49 yards. If you are talking about before Tampa, yes, he missed some in that range. However Nugent has NEVER kicked 100 percent in that range, you can look it up yourself.

You said this. So I proved it wrong.

I'm sorry but dude is 57% for the preseason kicking all by himself.  Heck Matt could have done that with a bad leg.  Plus from what I've heard Matt hadn't missed ANYTHING in the OTA's...

Without Carl Nix it feels like our running game just took a death blow to the face!

So we are using one pre-season instead of his career? Sorry if I don't understand that logic

Okay, feel big about that.  I typed in the wrong range - I meant 30-39 and I apologize for that.  You did prove me wrong and I admit it.  However I also stated that Nugent will wish he is 100% at that same range this year, and you will wish he was 100% on extra points - neither of which he has been or will be in 2009.  I wish it was better, but it is not... hand-me-down he is.

Dude there hasn't been a chance because Matt was hurt.  Are we ready to dump a money guy for this guy?  I say no...

For those who love Nugent here are some of his stats:
In 2006, he was 8 of 9 between 19-29 yards, 7 of 7 for 30-39 yards, 7 of 10 40-49 yards, and 0-2 from 50 yards
In 2007 he was 8 of 8 beween 19-29 yards, 10 of 12 30-39 yards, 4 of 4 40-49 yards, and 2 of 3 50 or more yards
In 2008 he was 12 of 12 betwen 19-29 yards, 10 of 12 30-39 yards, 6 of 8 40-49 yards, and 0-2 50 yards or more

Overall, he is definately worse from 19-39 yards, missing two kicks a year on average plus two extra points in three years.  At 40 on up, marginally (and I mean very marginally) better.  Over 50, I don't see much difference as he has only made 2 of 7 attempts ever.

So we should dump Nugent and hope Bryant is 100%?

It's a hamstring.  It needs rest.  But hey, you may get your wish and this one I assure you, you will not like when we need a pressure kick for the win
