Guy has done a helluva job, getting Auburn to 5-0.  I wonder what Sir Charles is saying now?

Here was what Barkley said when Chizik was hired:

"I think race was the No. 1 factor," said Barkley, who played basketball for three seasons at Auburn during the early 1980s. "You can say it's not about race, but you can't compare the two résumés and say [Chizik] deserved the job. Out of all the coaches they interviewed, Chizik probably had the worst résumé."

"I'm just very disappointed," Barkley said. "I just thought Turner Gill would be the perfect choice for two reasons: He's a terrific coach and we needed to make a splash. I thought we had to do something spectacular to bring attention to the program. Clearly, if we'd hired a black coach, it would have created a buzz."

Turner Gill is 1-4 at Buffalo this season.

Yeah good for him. I always sorta liked Auburn.

Who have they played so far?

Liked Chizik at Texas - thought he was capable and glad to see him doing well.

(You have him to thank for Roy Miller, by the way)

La Tech, Miss St., WV, Ball State, Tenn. in other words just West Va.

Watching Alabama crank-up all that publicity hiring Saban while Chizik sneaks in across town at Auburn has set the stage for a really interesting Iron Bowl this season...

...FWIW, my money is on Auburn this year.

Barkley is an idiot. I don't put stock in anything he says.

We'll see how the rest of the season goes, but they're off to a good start for sure. I always had a soft spot for Chizik since he's a Gator and coached at my high school in the 80s.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

The end of their schedule is brutal with LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Alabama in 4 of their last 5 - but Chizik's team has been impressive thus far.

It is a lot less Gene Chizik and a lot more Gus Malzahn who did wonder at Tulsa with their offense and is doing the same at Auburn.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

Yeah, it's a McDaniels/Nolan situation.  Nolan is clearly the reason Denver is where it is, but you gotta give the HC the credit for hiring those guys to come in and do their thing.

Chizik's defense has been pretty consistent from UCF through Texas and now mixing in the offensive component - but why are we spending so much time talking about Chizik?
