Free agent signings is the key. A bunch of rookies on defense is a scary thought.

Totally agree.  Reload the D in FA if possible and get the BAP in the first round.

This is a big vote of confidence in Wyms too...

I hope he can step and form a nice partnership with Hovan.  Wyms is only 27, his cap hit is manageable and he is an overachiever instead of an underachiever like McFat.

a 2nd is a steal for Booger.  Very nice.

He will do good for them, but he was done here, and for us to get a 2nd for a guy who would have been gone at the end of this season is amazing.

wow, from ESPN.com:

Quote
McFarland, 6 feet and 300 pounds, has spent the last six seasons as a starter on the Bucs' line. Considered one of the NFL's top run defenders at the tackle position, he helped Tampa Bay rank in the top 10 in the league in total defense during each of his seven seasons with the team.

please, he ain't gonna do crap up there.  He's a waste and we just commited a crime against Indy.  What a deal!  The next draft looks solid with defensive players on the first day and this helps us big time.

Now after we draft Quinn Pit**CENSORED** we still have 2 second rounders to grab a S and LB.

exactly what i was thinking.  it has always amazed me to read epsn rankings with booger as a top DT.  i've always thought if teams supposedly think so highly of him could we get get a day 1 pick for him?  i'd have been happy with a 3rd, but a 2nd is a GREAT deal.

HAPPY DAYS :D

I would have been happy with a 4th/5th Rounder for him.

as i said on another thread, playing between freeney and brock will make him look a little better than an aging rice and spires have.

If he doesn't break an arm or something......OBD

I hope Indy loses every game from here on out.  The more they lose, the better the trade!

Does anyone know how much salary cap money we are going to eat on Boogers contract? I know we are saving on his big salary but I'm not sure about the bonus money that is still counted towards the cap.

This is an amazing deal. Too the Bucs couldn't fleece Walker on someone. Next year could be a very different team with a lot of draft picks and free agent money. I think it will be the closest thing to the team Gruden wants and will ultimately determine his worth.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

i think that was a GREAT trade by the bucs. i was thinking that booger would be worth about a early 2nd day pick, but man, allen got a 2nd rd. for him! at 1st i didnt think allen was that good of a GM, but he's done a good job as of late IMO w/ getting under the cap and now this. now you guys just need to do what the niners did last season, trade 1 of your 2nds and a 3rd or both of your 2nds and trade up for another 1st. i think it will work, the niners did this and got i think 2 futureplaymakers in vernon davis and manny lawson. i think it will work for the bucs too. good job bucs.
Agreed.
