Kids are exposed to this at very early ages now.  Hell, Katy Perry had a big hit singing " I kissed a girl and I liked it", and it was kids that were eating it up.  For most of these young girls its a phase.  A chance to experiment with their homosexual feelings and not feel pigeonholed into being strictly homosexual. 

I had a girlfriend in highschool that decided she was bi and came out about it.  She was the first to do so in my HS.  I new it was a phase and told her I thought so and it turns out I was correct.  She told me years later that it was indeed just a phase.  I'm not saying thats true for all and for a 13 yo its too early to know anything about one's sexuality, but I think that, especially for girls because its not frowned upon, that it is a phase most of the time.
