Rod Marinelli.

BUMP!!!!

I would love for this to happen in the offseason with the hope of drafting Ndamukong Suh.

So how many years has Marinelli called plays?

How many years has Raheem Morris called plays? How many years has any defensive coordinator called plays until they get the opportunity to do so? I think Marinelli is a qualified candidate, and if our plans are to draft Suh, I wouldn't hesitate to grab Marinelli.

Would Marinelli be married to the Tampa-2?  I'm not sure that's the long-term direction that Morris envisions.

he does have some experience as a DC:

Rosemead High School
(Defensive coordinator)
1973-75

But seriously, the guy has been coaching football for over 35 years.  I'm sure he could handle it.

Is Morris in a position to hire a coach who "might" be able to do it? I think he needs as close to a sure thing as it gets.

With Bates gone if we revert back to the Tampa Two I think McCoy will be the guy...he is a perfect fit for the Tampa Two....more than Suh

as for a new DC would love to have either Rod or Herm Edwards back

What a disaster!  Bates can't take all the blame for the defense sucking.  What is he supposed to do with the no pressure from the D line?  Monte couldn't even do anything with this unit at the end of 08'.

What exactly is Raheem going to do?  He has no DC experience at all.  What exactly does he do anyways as the HC if he wasn't helping Bates?

Bates has been successful in other places, so I think it's more of a personnel issue than a coaching philosophy problem.
