I wonder if June can play middle linebacker. Maybe the Bucs know that Shelton Quarles can't play and they might be willing to try June at MLB.
That would be a horrible idea. We'd be run all over.

See my previous post:

I think June would get flattenned at MLB. I think he could be very good at Safety, but his price tag would likely be too high for that.

Yeah, you're right. June isn't built to play MLB and he probally wouldn't be good in run support.

From PFT:

COLTS STILL IN THE LEAD FOR CATO

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that, although the Buccaneers are interested in free-agent linebacker Cato June, the Colts remain the favorites to sign him.

June, a four-year veteran, started in every game for the Colts in 2006.  He had a career-high 142 tackles last season.

And that's 12 more tackles than Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who had 130 in 2006.

The similarity?  Both play weak-side linebacker in a Tampa 2 defense.

The difference?  Briggs is restricted by the franchise tag, and June is completely unrestricted.

Common sense. Lets say we had drafted June and he was on our team. How much would the goobers love the Junsta. They would brag to their friends about how him Q, and Brooks are the best LB's in the league.  He would also mention his ass load of tackles and pro bowl's.

I agree that June has all the skills to be a very good safety.  I'm concerned that his price tag would preclude us from playing him there, though.

You know something is brewing when Bucs.com announces the visits of June, Draft, and Grant. ;)  The official site hardly ever posts releases regarding FA visits.

Hmmm, what'd I tell ya yesterday about the phrophetic Bucs.com article regarding, among others, June's visit to OBP... ;D
