Taylor Thompson Profile

SMU tight end Taylor Thompson worked out for the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, according to a league source.

Thompson is an athletic tight end-defensive end who was named All-Conference USA last season as he recorded 41 tackles, 7 1/2 for losses, seven sacks and six forced fumbles.

The 6-foot-6, 259-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout, also bench pressing 225 pounds and registering a 37-inch vertical leap, a 10-6 broad jump, a 4.38 20-yard shuttle and a 7.43 three-cone drill.

Thompson has visited several NFL teams after not being invited to the combine.

An All-Conference USA selection as a junior, Thompson had 32 tackles, 4 1/2 sacks and 5 1/2 tackles for losses.

In high school, Thompson caught 58 passes for 960 yards and a touchdown as a senior at tight end as he chose SMU voer Vanderbilt, Colorado Strate and Oklahoma State.

San Jose State quarterback Matt Faulkner was asked to throw for Thompson.
