Again though, we're talking late rounds. Who's available by then but scrubs anyway? is it gonna hurt us if a 6th rounder doesn't pan out?
Bad influence on the rest of the rooks.
A little preemptive suggestion don't you think?
Lets all step back for a second and recognize that this team is devoid of talent...especially on the defensive side of the ball.
I am not saying that we need to invest in thugs and a-holes. But in regards to Burfict...I have seen tape on the guy and I was praying to god he would be there at 36. Now its likely he will be there at the 6th round.
Despite the facts that these kids made some stupid mistakes before the draft, does that mean they have been getting into trouble all the time? Carl Nicks got in trouble at Nebraska. Vincent Jackson has a ton of DUIs. Mike Williams had a DUI and was kicked out of Syracuse.
There are plenty of players who make stupid decisions that ultimately cost them a ton of money. But that doesn't mean they aren't hungry to be great at football.
Schiano is a guy that brings responsibility and details into perspective. The guy is a rookie HC we all understand that. But this team is nothing but rookies and 1-2 year players anyways. What difference does it make if we take on a few "bad apples" for the sake of winning.
If you go out and get some high character good talented guys in the first 3 rounds...it allows yourself to take chances on guys in the 5th-6th round who show true promise but screwed up before the draft.
If Schiano can only work with high character individuals from the get-go, then that is just pigeon holing us into expecting only a certain type of player throughout his regime. I am not saying its a bad thing, but we could end up passing on some really good guys due to "character" concerns. Remember...Sapp was no angel coming out of the draft....but he ended up being one of the best Buccaneers in history.
