USF is the best team in the Big East, IMO. Time to put on the bigboy drawers

It was exciting. Too sloppy of a win.  The DL needs to starts better.

I don't know that it was a hail mary, but then again I couldn't watch the game since the athletic department can't find a local tv station to air the games.  Good win on the road though, Nevada is no slouch.

They turnaround and play Rutgers this Thursday (I'll be there). I wasn't impressed with what I saw against Nevada - very sloppy as you say.  They have to get much, much better to compete against their upcoming conference rivals.

The games was on CBS Sports Channel (something like that).

Great game, Bulls!!!! Nevada is no slouch especially for a team that had to fly across the whole country to play them.

Once again, great NON-conference win for the Bulls.

couldn't believe how loud the Nevada crowd was - and did you see their stadium. Looked like a high school stadium.

Five things to know about the USF Bulls

TAMPA --

Schedule concerns

The Bulls have nonconference games against Florida State and Miami, giving them an opportunity to make a splash. But the direction of USF's season could be influenced early. The Bulls travel Sept. 8 to Nevada no easy mark there then must turn around on a short week for a Thursday home game against Rutgers in the Big East Conference opener. Nevada was a late add to the schedule after TCU bounced from the Big East to the Big 12, but USF administrators didn't know at the time that ESPN would want Rutgers-USF on the following Thursday night.

Dee-fense! Dee-fense!

Chris Cosh, formerly of Kansas State, is USF's new defensive coordinator. He replaces Mark Snyder, who became the coordinator at Texas A&M. Cosh is big on communication, team speed and accountability. The Bulls were a respectable 38th nationally last season in total defense (351.3 yards per game), but much of the damage occurred in the fourth quarter, when the Bulls had trouble closing out games. Cosh intends to fix that.

Last go-round for B.J.

There certainly have been nice moments. Senior QB B.J. Daniels burst onto the scene in 2009 with an upset victory at Florida State. He beat Clemson in a bowl game. Last season, he led a victory at Notre Dame. In Big East Conference contests, though, the Bulls are just 7-13 in games started by Daniels. He has 7,973 career yards of total offense and could eclipse Matt Grothe's Big East record (10,875). But he might largely be measured by his ability to produce USF's first conference title.

The hands team

Since Skip Holtz's arrival at USF in 2010, the wide receiver position has been injury-prone while lacking depth. Now the Bulls seemingly have an embarrassment of riches with nine players who can legitimately figure into the rotation, including newcomers such as Chris Dunkley, a transfer from Florida, and freshman D'vario Montgomery. "It's so much different than a year ago and it's ridiculously different than two years ago,'' Holtz said. "We only have one football, but we've got a lot of guys to do something with it.''

Seniority

USF could have 10 seniors or one or two more in its starting lineup. That crew has seen plenty, moving from the Jim Leavitt era to Skip Holtz, and endured its share of heartache with five losses by a combined 18 points last season. Holtz said his team's experience is a major positive. "The leadership has been tremendous,'' Holtz said. "This feeling (5-7, no bowl game for the first time since 2004) has been burning in their gut for an entire year. The only way to make it go away is to get to December and be where we want to be. That's what these guys want.''

BJ hopefully is more accurate.  That Rutgers D is good.

Almost another pick that luckily bounces into a receiver's hand.

As much as BJ sucks, these referees are almost as bad.  Are they using replacement refs in the Big East as well?

Ridiculously poorly coached team.  I hope the extension given to skip wasn't guaranteed money.
