Thoughts on Alan Branch?

He'd be a much better option than Brace.  Brace sucks and always has.

If we sign any DE's in free agency, i was Michael Johnson(UFA) from the Bengals

My number 1 FA hopeful for the Bucs! I wanted him over Freeman during the draft but he fell to the 3rd.

He bullrushed Davin Joseph into the backfield, putting him in position to be rolled up on by Chandler Jones, and thus tearing the ACL of Joseph.

beat me to it, i dont think davin wants to see that guy every day in practice.  is brace a younger better version of gibson?

i think michael johnson is intriguing, but im content with the clayborn bowers bennett combo with teo/morgan/etc grabbing a few reps.

unless of course the team wants to bulk up bowers to backup UT and big DE.

They're very different types of player IMO.

a better question might be, can brace do well what we want out of our NT?

Has he done anything since being drafted?

Happened often to Davin that game.

Until preseason, you stay classy Red Board.

Maybe I should have gone into more detail in the OP. This guy was cut. It would cost next to nothing to sign him, have him in our offseason program, and have him in camp to compete. I'm not claiming he's the best thing since sliced bread. He's just a big, young, nose tackle that fits what we need. There is no reason not to sign him. Signing him has nothing to do with going after Cliff Avril or Sammie Lee Hill or any of the other random names people are throwing out. We are allowed like 90 roster spots in the offseason and preseason. This guy should be one of them.

Also, he is 330lbs. Please stop with the "we have enough DEs" nonsense. He's a nose tackle thru and thru. He isn't an amazing athlete or anything. He is a huge person that eats blocks and stuffs the run. That's it.

1. Probably not or else he'd still be in New England.

2. The Bucs just finished with the #1 rush defense. I think we know what type of player we need at NT and Brace is not that type of player.

I have a *really* hard time imagining he won't be tagged and/or resigned.

It could happen. The Bengals are cheap, have good depth on the defensive line, and know they're going to have to give Geno Atkins a truckload of money in 2014.

Brace on the off season roster would have no risks to it. Sign him now. No risk, big reward type of deal.

Did any of you pay attention to Branch this game?
