Seriously.   Why keep Schiano as HC when a quality guy like Lovie is available?

Because is record is OK, but not that great!

2005   11   5   0   .688   1st in NFC North   0   1   .000   Lost to Carolina Panthers in NFC Divisional Game.
2006   13   3   0   .813   1st in NFC North   2   1   .667   Lost to Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI.
2007   7   9   0   .438   4th in NFC North
2008   9   7   0   .563   2nd in NFC North
2009   7   9   0   .438   3rd in NFC North
2010   11   5   0   .688   1st in NFC North   1   1   .500   Lost to Green Bay Packers in NFC Championship Game.
2011   8   8   0   .500   3rd in NFC North

Schiano will bring in his own guy and he WILL tighteen up the pass defense. We are all forgetting that last year we were the worst team against the run and now number one against the run. Remarkable to be sure. Another one or two speed rushers, Clayborn/Bowers/McCoy being healthy as well as  a highly regarded shutdown corner in FA or two as well as one or two CB's in the draft and it should be markedly better.

The pickings were pretty slim by the time he got hired don't ya think? He lucked out on Sullivan (first impressions), but Sheridan sucked in NY and has now sucked here. Even a blind man can see that one.

Lovie as HC and Marinelli as DC (or vice versa) would be great.

Wouldn't really be too crazy about Lovie as our head coach, but I'd be ecstatic to have him as our DC.

as Hayseed said.. There is a 0% chance that Lovie Smith isn't a head coach next year... Unless he decides to take a year off.  With that said for the team that gets him you can count on 7-11 win seasons every year, great defense, and a guy who knows absolutely nothing about offense and who to hire that does know something about offense.... Oh yea and also a very boring guy with no personality.

Just saw that the Bears canned Lovie after missing the Playoffs again. A bit of a shocker. Do the Bucs give Sheriden a chance to develop a defense or do the Bucs go in a different direction? The Bucs run defense was spectacular but he pass defense was horrid. Was that because of scheme or personel?

I'm all for bringing Lovie in as DC.

You like to have continuity and loyalty on your staff.  And since Coach S has a big role on what the defense does, I'm not sure he's going to give up the reigns if Lovie Smith becomes the DC.   It would be an interesting move.

Schiano coaches the pass D.   We've seen how good he is at that.   Worst in NFL.

Lovie Smith ain't happening . He's going to get a head coaching gig for sure.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.
