2013 Mock Draft

Welcome to the 2013 Mock Draft Thread, brought to you by Adderall! Last year 'Tampa Two' suggested a combined thread with all mocks organized and I think it had a good turnout not to mention a couple of people who were very close to being perfect on their predictions. It is only January, but our season is over so we can start to look ahead to the mock drafts of the world and find our next gems. I'll probably merge mock draft threads into this thread as they fall into page 2 so they aren't lost.

I don't have a prize for getting the most correct, but if you win, here is an avatar of David Duchovny.

That is all.

Sincerely,
3rd String Kicker

Forecasts from around the web

CBSSports - Rob Rang (3/26/13)
1 - CB Xavier Rhodes

CBSSports - Dan Brugler (3/26/13)
1 - DT Star Lotulelei

Draft Countdown (3/22/13)
1 - DT Star Lotulelei

Walter Football 3/20/13
13th Overall - DT - Star Lotulelei
The poor Buccaneers want cornerback help, but the top players at the position are all off the board. If this were to happen, Tampa Bay would look at the top prospect available, and that could definitely be Star Lotulelei. Lotulelei is a total wild card right now. He wasn't allowed to work out at the Combine because of a heart condition. It could be something serious, but it could also be insignificant. Hopefully it's the latter. I think I'll slot Lotulelei around here until I have more information. There's no doubt that Lotulelei would fill a huge need next to Gerald McCoy. Roy Miller just signed with the Jaguars.

"Mingo is the son of Hugh Mingo and Barbara Johnson. He has two older brothers, Hugh and Hughtavious.(lol) His unusual first name was created by his mother, adding the first three letters of her first name to the equally random letters Kevious.

The name won the 2009 Name of the Year award."

I've never heard of Oday Aboushi, and he doesn't seem to have a top-15 grade from what ive read recently.  Could be a solid pick at RT in the 2nd rd though.

Pretty good Oday Aboushi scouting report:
http://www.seniorbowl.com/files/ODAY%20ABOUSHI%20SB%20PROFILE(3).pdf

I think I would like the Mingo pick but his light weight makes me skeptical of making him a 4-3 DE.  But I'm sure he can add weight to his lanky frame, and he seemed to dominate some of those LT/RTs in the college.  With that said, I doubt we pickup a developmental prospect early in the draft with our need to "win now."

It's way way way early, but what the hell........

1st - Xavier Rhodes CB
2nd - Jordan Reed TE
3rd - Stedman Bailey WR
4th - Bacarri Rambo FS
4th - Dennis Johnson RB

Plus a couple DTs and a CB in free agency.

Jordan Reed is talented as hell, but he's a friggin' moron.  Not a football player, IMO.  I'd be OK w/him in the 4th if still available, but I think the 2nd is too high.

I am going to go way against the grain here - but my pick at #13 would be Florida DT Shariff Floyd.

I think this guy has the potential to become a Pro-Bowl DT and he has the versatility to move up and down the D Line. Alot depends on who our Defensive Coordinator is next year....but I think Floyd would be phenomenal in a rotation with Miller and McCoy.

Yes, i know we need a corner. But I think Floyd is a better pick than what would be available.

round one  XR27 - he is a stud and is a perfect for our scheme
but i want RB/fb lonnie pryor from fsu. he can block catch and run.. plus he wasn't used often and has plenty of tread left on his tires. he would be the perfect complement to Dougie fresh.. cause they are very similar in running style and is a hands down a shiano guy... he puts the team first!!

Damn, this is going to be a long offseason.

Might as well join in, even though I'm sure I will change it 7,600 times between now and April.

1st - Sheldon Richardson - DT - Mizzou
2nd - David Amerson CB - NCSt
2nd - Tony Jefferson - FS - OU (Traded our 3rd and 6th to hop back into the mid-late 2nd)
4th - Rick Wagner - OT - Wisconsin
4th - Brian Schwenke - C - Cal (pick acquired for Aqib Talib)
5th - Michael Buchanan - DE - Illinois

Until preseason, you stay classy Red Board.

Our off season will play out like last season. We need to lock up Bennett who has balled out as usual and sign free agent OT Ryan Clady from the Broncos or OT Andre Smith, both of who are 26 and going into their prime. Andre Melton is a beast DT with the bears and only 26 or DT Randy starks from Miami/29. Jarius Bird is a 26 yr old safety with the Bills and I can see the Bucs adding NFL experience at other positions for better rotation. That said, this is my mock draft:

1st Matt Elam, SS, Florida
2nd Desmond Trufant, Cb, Washington
2nd Monte Ball, RB, Wisconsin
4th Kyle Long, OT, Oregon
4th William Gholston, DE, Michigan State
5th John Wetzel, OT, Boston College

Why would the Bucs draft Elam? Move him to FS? Down with pick 2 and 3, definitely!
