Almost 32K last night and sell out today.  Add to that the 17K+ on a Tuesday night against the mediocre D'Backs and I'd say winning and playing exciting baseball tends to increase attendance numbers.

Nice, but not that great compared to other teams.  Hell, the Jags had 17K at there scrimmage the other night. A team some might argue is the worst team in the NFL.

Compared to what other teams?  Why are we comparing baseball to football?   Yankee Stadium looks half empty every time I watch them on a week night

Rays had over 25K for the Wednesday night game as well.   Didn't realize it was that high

That is because they suck right now, but all those empty seats are sold. Its people not showing up. The Yanks are something like 4th in the league in attendance.  [tickets sold, not seats filled]

Teams like the Phillies and Angels are top 10 in attendance,  with pretty bad teams.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

Those tickets are sold because there are 22 million people to buy them instead of 4 million and because of NY being the richest city on the planet.  It isn't a new thing either.  Those empty seats have been there all year and previous ones as well.  Philly and LA haven't sucked in previous years and those "attendance" numbers are because of season tix and corporate.  They weren't filling up Philly pre-the new ball park when the team sucked.

Bottom line is if people aren't going, they aren't going whether the seats are sold or not.   The Rays are relying almost entirely on walk up sales.

I have a question.    Why don't the Rays show replays on the big screen at the games?
