Obviously I hate the Red Sox, but I think that was clearly the right call to make from the umpire - and not an easy one to call in that situation.  I give that dude a lot of credit for making that call.

Agree, gutsy call. And a ccorrect one according to the rule.

MLB said they will take a look at the rule in the offseason.  The only thing missing from the rule is intent.  And that is huge.

If you add in intent, then you put the burden on the runner to avoid any fielder that is "unintentionally" in the way of a runner trying to advance.  Way too much room for interpretation there.   Fielders can stand on top of the bag or in a baseline all day long then and "unintentionally" impede the runners ability to make it to the next base safely.     .

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

I hate the Red Sux won, but there are a couple bright spots:

1.  Happy to see Jonny G. win a ring.

2.  As hard as it is to imagine, this actually makes Bobby V. look even more stupid.

Shields was great for them.  Just didn't get any run support.  Kind of like his time here.

Congrats to Wil Myers on winning the Rookie of the Year award, joining Evan Longoria and Jeremy Hellickson over the last six years to win the award.

Tito the AL manager of the year .

Hurdle NL manager of the year.

I thought Farrell might win it, but they said all voting was over at the end of the season. Postseason doesn't count.

Puig should of won it, but I think a lot of people are put off by his brash personality.  He doesn't lack self confidence, that is for sure.

I'm glad Fernandez won it.  He was a stud on an awful team.

Puig's decisions on the basepaths and throwing the ball from the OF really hurt his chances IMO.

The only change needed for the Trop is a wrecking ball.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

With Hellickson pitching so poorly last season this news is a bit of a shock, especially if they trade Price.

He's on the wrong side of 30 coming off major surgery and doing very little over the past 2 years.  Maybe they will try to bring him back on a minor league deal that would give them some more flexibility?

I was a fan of Niemann's, but when you combine his not being able to stay healthy with the strength of the young starting pitching in the organizaition, I don't have any problem with the team wishing him the best in his future endeavors.
