Tebow to Cardinals? Rumors swirl

If anything, Tim Tebow looks like an athlete. But does anyone want him to play QB?

Updated Jan 15, 2013 5:53 PM ET

There’s bad quarterback play, and then there’s the quarterback play of the Arizona Cardinals, who are in desperate need of a savior going forward.

Could that savior be Tim Tebow?

While it’s unclear whether the Cardinals will have any interest in pursuing a trade for the Jets’ backup quarterback/clipboard holder, speculation of such a move has unsurprisingly picked up a bit after TMZ reportedly spotted Tebow in Arizona on Monday.

The polarizing signal caller reportedly trained for two and a half hours — running sprints and drills — at an Arizona community college. Clearly, Tebow’s mind is still very much on football in the wake of a tumultuous season in New York, where he barely saw the field despite the Jets’ constant QB struggles.

The big question going into the offseason, however, is whether another team values Tebow’s skill set moreso than the Jets. Many assumed Jacksonville might be interested — as Tebow’s arrival would be a homecoming that would at least sell some tickets for the Jaguars — but new general manager David Caldwell has already stated that he can’t see a scenario in which Tebow lands with the Jags. That means we must shift our attention elsewhere, and the city where Tebow is reportedly training is as quarterback-starved as they come.

The Cardinals — who rolled out a less-than-stellar QB quartet of Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer this season — ranked 28th in the NFL in passing yards (3,005), 28th in completion percentage (55.4), 31st in passing touchdowns (11), 32nd in sacks allowed (58), 32nd in yards per attempt (5.6), 32nd in passer rating (63.1) and 32nd in interceptions (21).

I've been saying this all season.. Doesn't mater how accurate he is, Fitz will catch the ball. And Tebow will help the run game for sure.. If they somehow were able to trade for Percy Harvin too, they would instantly be a playoff team. Not saying they'd be a power, but they'll win some games for sure.

Fitz has to be pulling his hair out.  What a waste the 2012 season was for him.   Towards the end there,  he had Ryan Lyndley throwing to him.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

Fitz would probably ask for a trade if this happened.

What a waste of the talents of one of the most talented wide receivers ever.  Having Leinart and whoever before Warner, then these moes after Warner.  Adding Tebow would push Fitz over the friggin' falls...

And to relate back to the Colin Cowhert rant from November where he states that many celebs go to Vegas or wherever and have a nice vacation without the likes of TMZ knowing their every move.  Here comes Timmay to AZ and TMZ is right there catching the workout?  Methinks something's amiss with Timmay's ego.

Well according to this forum, accuracy is everything. You think Tebow would be an improvement?

NY, it's hard for even Fitz to catch a ball when it's 2 yards behind him.  Timmay make Freeman look like Marino, and we all know Free has a ways to go.

hahaha seriously doubt that. tebow cant hit the broad side of a barn when hes not being pressured and the OL in AZ cant keep a qb on his feet anyway. if AZ brings tebow in then they are complete fools. they need to draft a real qb if they want to win games. the tebow experiment is over, i dont know why the media keeps prolonging the agony

Fitzgerald is like the Barry Sanders of the WR position.

Way to contradict yourself: Instant playoff team = not a power???

Don't quite follow the logic there, but that is how I feel regarding most Tebow faithful.

Timmy needs an oline just like every other QB.  32nd ranking in sacks is not a secret to succeess.  That said, if a team is willing to support Tebow's skill set it sure would be interesting football.  If nothing else the nation and I ( small ego )  will finally see what the kid can do.  I would recommend creating a convoy to block for him on planned QB runs ala Johnny Football.  Looks effective for that kind of play.

Gotta give Fitz credit, most WR's of his talent level would be screaming about ......"get me out of here".

Guess he is not the diva type.

There's also the possibility that TMZ just isn't interested in covering Colin Cowherd, no matter how many times he calls to tell them where he's at.

Illuminator is a good poster. He sticks to his guns and makes good points. Some don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t like that.
