If a team trades for him under his current contract, that would include the inability to franchise him.

That is correct...

Says who?

You have to look at the language in the contract & I haven't seen a reliable report on it either way.

Clauses can be waived in order to make a trade happen.

Yeah, but the guy who has to waive it is the guy who wants the clause.

Right, but that's assuming he wouldn't change his mind and also that the language of the contract prohibits the Jets from franchising him. Again, depends on the language.

Mtmman - of course he has to have the clause in his contract. But it's been repeatedly reported that he does (most recently by Pat Kirwan, who has always been close to the Jets).

There's no incentive to change his mind - if he does, he'll be woefully underpaid. That means he'll make $6 million this year.

Justin Pawlowski ‏@CommishOnline
According to @Tim_McManus, "League source says no merit to report that Eagles are in the mix for Revis." Jets trying to get more from Bucs?

That's exactly what it is.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

All I'm saying is they may decide to rent him for a year, decide what to do later and that the clause may be exclusive to the Jets.

The clause isn't exclusive to the Jets. If it was exclusive to the Jets, everyone would know it's exclusive to the Jets because that's a huge cause of the price being as low as it is. If another team can franchise him, the Jets would want them to know that.

There\'s a very real chance the Bucs waive [Revis] before next season. At the very least, it will be a discussion worth having.

Bring on the Revis news.  It has to be the Bucs at this point.

I for one hope it's for a 3rd this year and next year's second. If we could keep our top two picks this year, trade for Revis, sign Goldson, get a decent DT/DE pass rusher, and land another CB(either Smith, Cox, Cason, Grimes, ect.) we could very well be looking at a seat at the playoff table.
