I still want Tavon Austin,  we can get the defensive help and depth in FA.  Give me a special athlete like Tavon Austin, we need a slot WR, a KR and a PR.  He can be special player at all three positions and in a pinch or with some creative offensive design a RB.

Mayock's newest rankings. EJ Manuel is now the #2 QB in the draft. Heard him talking about it on NFL network. He said he doesn't like this year's QB crop, but if he's going to make a mistake.....he's going to make a mistake with the guy who has all the physical skills you could want. Exactly how I feel. I don't think there is a QB in this draft worth a 1st round pick, but if I'm taking one it's going to be EJ simply because he has the most upside.

I think that is how you draft Josh Freeman 2.0  I want the mental skills far more than physical tools.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

LOL !! I can;t believe you just said you'd take EJ in the 1st round .

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

I didn't say I'd take EJ in the first round. In fact, I clearly said I don't think any QB in the draft is worth a 1st round pick. Nice reading skills.

Earliest I'd take any QB in this draft, including EJ, is the mid 2nd round. And that's not just for the Bucs and their situation. I'm saying that for any team, even the one's desperate for a QB. With that said, there will probably be three or more QBs taken by the middle of the 2nd round. I'll be surprised if EJ, Barkley, and Gino make it out of the first round.  QB is a unique position and GMs get desperate and take stupid risks. Happens every year.

LOL @ mentioning EJ and 1st round in the same sentence. I don't care if you were speaking hypothetically or not , it's stupid.

I agree. Although guys like Newton and Kaepernick had questionable aptitude and were drafted mostly on physical ability....and they are both pretty good. I think with EJ, if you dumb it down and let him grow into it, he could be pretty good down the road. Ideally, I think he goes to a team where he can sit for a year or two. If he gets thrown in right away, I think he'll get chewed up.

Since first round picks get 5 year contracts, and 2nd round picks only get 4 year contracts.....I expect two or three teams to trade up into the late 1st to get a QB. Is that stupid? Sure....but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

For Barkley?  Sure. For EJ?  I don't see it.

I think Logan Ryan is more of a zone player. Don't think he really fits what we are doing.

Also, I have zero interest in Te'o. Zero. I hope Schiano feels the same.

This team runs a lot of zone...
From what I've seen, Schiano runs variations on a cover-3 zone blitz scheme. Of course there are the plays he calls cover zero or vanilla 2 man under, but people seem to only remember those plays because of the burned coverage and then extrapolate that into being the entire scheme for some reason.

That is an interesting post. I didn't watch every single play last year but I never once saw any cover 3. Every time we had 3 safeties in the game, Barber was in the box. Which was more of a cover 2. I never saw any cover zero either. I saw a ton of cover one with Barron back there and Barber creeping up with man coverage on the outside. They also did a lot of cover two where Barron had half of the field deep and Biggers had the other half with zone underneath (man deep cover).

We were playing cover one man at the end of the Giants game. I would've been thrilled with some cover three zone in that situation.

D J Hayden:   I guess because of his vein injury a lot of pundits didn't rank him. But the vein is repaired and Mayock ranks him the 3rd CB (above Trufant) and Lande ranks him the 7th CD.

His highlite video looks good.  Seems very good in run support and an excellent ball-hawk.

Does anyone know more about him or has seen him play???

I think that is how you draft Jimmy Clausen 2.0.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.
