Tards,

No one is saying draft Austin on April 25th & cut Mike Williams 5 minutes later.

Ya, I don't get that logic.

I am on record as saying its a luxury pick.  Let the Niners or Patriots draft him as a new toy for their already good teams.  The Bucs?  They need a good solid first round pick that will contribute on defense from day one.

Why should the Bucs let teams like that get Luxury picks? a lot of 2nd Round corners that could start from day one.

Too much of a gamble.  Bucs can't afford to strike out in the draft. At least not the first 3-4 picks.  If they want to roll the dice on a guy, let it be in the 7th round or there abouts.

again, Revis here let's us have a little wiggle room to get him. No revis, you HAVE to go CB.

Selfishly i'd like just once to be able to draft on luxury!.

Unfortunately if the Bucs land Revis, he becomes the so called "luxury" at an exorbitant cost with little to no shot of landing TA.

Exactly. That's why I favor saving the picks. You're talking about one player (Revis) as opposed to 2 or 3 possible starters from the draft. The only way I would favor a trade for Revis would be for a single pick, preferably in next year's draft. Austin's impact on offense and STs, plus the other picks, is more valuable than Revis alone IMO.

I'm tired of seeing the Bucs have to trade away premium picks or overpay free agents to get quality players. A 22 year old Tavon Austin trumps a 28 year old Revis straight up, forget about the picks. We're not going to get 2 or 3 contracts out of Revis. He's a band-aid. A CB in the 2nd round won't be what Revis was 2 years ago, but he could be 2 years from now, and he might be here for a decade or so.

I say get Austin now. Next year, when the Bucs are favored to win the SB, then make Revis a reasonable offer if he wants to join a winning organization. He will still have to beat out his competition if he wants to be a starter.

i dont believe this is realistic.  no team should ever expect to get 3 contracts from a player imo.  i find it difficult to call revis a bandaid.  i think revis makes the team far better than austin.   we are not going to run our offense through a slot WR.  we would run our defense off a shutdown CB.

Even though Revis is better, and he didn't even make it to 13...One could still imagine craziness happening if the OC is creative... This vid makes me think St. Louis made a smart trade up:

Our CB situation was so bad last year, we HAD to at least TRY to land Revis. Our offense did fine last season w/o Austin, and should be even better this season.

Demps can be our Tavon Austin.   Got him on the cheap too.

I'd be willing to not attend any team events for a lot less than Demps is.

Eh... Skillset matters most.... Size? not so much.. (That's what they always tell me anyway)

Reggie Bush 6' 0", 203 lbs
Darrelle Revis 5' 11", 198 lbs

Don't get me wrong!.. I would like Demps to show up, but I'd also trade him for Tavon in .146 seconds... Which is also Tavon's 40 time (Don't fight me on this, it's science). :)

And they're the same skin color so there's another similarity. It's like how Maurice Stovall was the Buc's Calvin Johnson.

It's the skillset.. Not really about the size comparison.. Jeff Demps is faster than Austin but not the moves.

Not saying he won't be good, but what about that video did you like? Just made him seem annoying and kocky imo. Didn't see or hear anything impressive.
