Lol. The whole position of the OPs argument gets blown up and hes still arguing the fact. So a third of the nfl pays its top 2wrs, a third doesnt havent a #2 worth paying, and the last 3rd has guys under contract without a chance for the wr to hit fa yet.

So the argument is no one does it. Lol. Epic failure.

Bull!!

2-3 teams out of 32 are PAYING their no.2 WR.

Atlanta
Dallas, by accident, because he was a #1 when he signed & their current #1 is still dirt cheap rookie contract
Seattle, by accident, after a WR trade this offseason

So, only 1 by design.

and tatmanfish, you're just mad 'cause i don't support your gay marriage thingy  :P

do you guys really think we should draft this kid and replace Mike with him? he is the same as jacoby ford and bess.
Is there anyone saying that?

If 5mil s the cut off were basing this argument off of, saints, lions, redskins, just off the top of my head. Thats 6 right there. I can think of about 8-10 teams whos number 2 is still under a rookie contract or old fa contract all set to come up for contracts jn the next couple years. Then I can name around 10 teams with no #2 to pay.

Yep, those are polarizing numbers. The trend is locked in cement.

OK, there's 1 team out of 32 that's intentionally doing it.

Are you suggesting that the other teams are unintentionally doing it?

i guess i'd like to know what the thread author defines as "paid."  I dont think anyone is saying that MW should get V-Jax money.  5-6 mill per year sounds about right for a high end #2, which is what MW is.

We're not paying a number 2, we're paying our future #1.

Give him 5yr/30m...which is just about what Dom paid Michael **CENSORED**ing Clayton.

6 million is not enough for Williams.   If he goes elsewhere, he can get more than that.   He's worth at least 8 million a year.   The guy is a star.

If MC80 got $6 mil per MW19 is easily worth $8 mil. It would not hurt their cap position at all to give him 5 yr. $40 mil.

Drafting Austin to replace him is so ludicrous I won't even respond to the thought of it. That's like saying I'm going to buy a Big Wheel to replace my car.

Boldin, Torrey Smith.    Hakeem Nicks Victor Cruz.     Greg Jennings Jordy Nelson.   Marques Colston Robert Meachem.  Santanio Holmes Hines Ward.   If I am not mistaken, the last 5 teams to win a ring have had a dependable #1,#2 WR to help them get there.

You're a fan of the team that is currently contracted to its two starting guards for $100 million, spent $42 million on one safety less than a year after using a top 10 pick on another safety, has some of the highest paid kickers and punters in the NFL, and you're wondering about spending money on a wide receiver who has scored 23 TD's in three years in today's pass happy league?

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

Yes.

Already mentioned Dallas.
Miles Austin got #1 money at the time, but now he's the no.2 behind Dez.   "Unintentional", in a way, that he's getting PAID in Dallas....

I don't think this is entirely true.  Dallas drafted Dez in the first round on the 2010 draft to be a #1 WR.  They didn't re-up Austin until 5 months later.
