I don't understand this years free agency thinking of our team... did the glazers get cheap on us again? why have we not addressed the DB pos? and we lost the whole left side of our defense to be replaced by no one !! do they really think the signing of gholdson will help sell tickets? we have put all our eggs in one basket and that was the revis trade if this dosnt happen this may be the worst offseason well since......the year before last i truly believe they think, well we spent all this money last year why not go into this year 28 million under the cap again and hope we have a winner.. this team is really a up and down roller-coaster ride and right now its not good another 6-7 win season coming our way !!

Well, with revis... better than 8-8 (if he's back to form), without.. less than.

The offense is good enough it can stand on it's own, but the defense needs some serious help in the backfield. Goldson will provide a lot more than we might like to believe. For example, having him here will allow barber to be a specialist, coming on downs to blitz or whatever need-be. Having goldson here allows Barron to go back to his natural spot he was so good at in college. It also instills fear in WR's, knowing beforehand they had better watch out for the two hard-hitting safeties over the top.

Goldson was a damn good signing, but it won't be enough if they don't do something about the DB core. They cannot leave Myron freakin' Lewis out on an island with this divisions leading wr's and expect good results. Basically, that's what this schiano-led defense does. It forces the CBS into islands with the wideouts...if the dl isn't in the QB's face, it all falls apart quickly. But if they bring in at least one good corner, the dl should gain that one tenth of a second they need to make the sack by making the QB wery of were he throws ahead of time.

Right now, Ryan and brees both know they can just chuck it out there against this defense. Heck, all of us sitting at home or in the stands can see that.

Naismith was right about Revis. Everyone else is a dummy.

This has been discussed ad nausium. But I'll indudge. First read this thread. http://www.pewterreport.com/Boards/index.php/topic,1304389.0.html

Bennett was let go in lieu of a younger version in Bowers.
Miller was replaced with an equal Rush Defender and better Pass rusher in Landri.
Biggers will be replace by a combo of Leonard Johnson and Ronde Barber(who will return)
Depth was added in
Casllias( Blacks replacement)
Crabtree- Dallas Clark's replacement
Selvie- DL depth at DE and DT.
Olgetree and Smith add depth and competition at WR.

As much as i wanted a CB in Free Agency the elite talent wasn't there. The Bucs obviously are looking for long term answers and not one or two year fill in's. Now it's time to concentrate on the Draft. Personally I don't see a trade going down for Revis. There are too many intangibles in this deal. Any team is going to want to conduct a complete physical and be able to officially talk with Darelle's agent. The Jet's have not given anyone permission to do so. Until that happens a deal can't be done.

I feel the Bucs like and covet 2 players Shariff Floyd and Dee Milliner. If either is not selected in the top 5 then I'd expect the Bucs to have a trade in place IF the Revis Deal is not consummated prior to the Draft.

I don't feel the team sees Bowers as a Bennett replacement. A 3rd defensive end is pretty much a starter.

well written.  but my optimism still thinks we get revis a day or 2 before the draft.

Thanks. I agree. This whole waiting could simply be the Jets trying to get more for Revis. For all we fans know, the Bucs and Jets could have a deal in place and are just waiting for Revis the be healthy enough to pass the Bucs physical.

Right on bucko. There is a great chance of that.

Dom has probably become more concerned with the injured player routine and wants to at least see for himself if revis still has some wheels.

At this point though, it's probably more of a problem getting him to show up, rather than the worry over the injury. He's rumored to have been rehabbing with Logan Ryan, so he's at least jogging I would think. He's also been doing a lot of traveling in his off-time, so face to face wasn't an option. He's also had plenty of time to recover, so I'm not 100% sold that he's not ready. Of course, with the jets wanting the best deal they can get, they might make him wait until he's 100%, or close to it.

Either way, we're getting down to the nitty-gritty. From here on out, we'll hear the jets or bucs admit defeat and throw in the towel, or come draft, they surprise everyone.

Exciting nonetheless IMO.

The Jets lose all leverage with the Bucs if they don't do this deal prior to or the morning of the draft. Once the Draft starts I think the Bucs will move up between 5-11 to secure either Milliner or Rhodes.

Bennett was let go in lieu of a younger version in Bowers. And they'll need to find Bennet or Bowers quality depth behind Bower's to be as good as last year.
Miller was replaced with an equal Rush Defender and better Pass rusher in Landri. Doubtful that Landri is going to hold up in the run D as well as Miller, so this is prety much and even swap. No updgrade here.
Biggers will be replace by a combo of Leonard Johnson and Ronde Barber(who will return) Neither Johnson or Barber s/b starters.
Depth was added in
Casllias( Blacks replacement)  He has some potential but hasn't produced. Could be be OK for depth though.
Crabtree- Dallas Clark's replacement. Clark was a starter. Crabtree is depth behind who, Stocker? And that's scares whom?
Selvie- DL depth at DE and DT. Maybe he makes the team.
Olgetree and Smith add depth and competition at WR. Meh.

Just my 2 cents above, but there's still a ways to go to improve the talent level. Hopefully, there's a lot more to talent to talk about by the start of camp.

can te0nesh, morgan, and selvie give us depth?  not really sure, but one would think so.  i liked bennett, but most wouldnt think he was more than a hustle guy.
gibson is the guy that needs to hold up against the run...he had better numbers in limited snaps last year.
i think we all know CB will be addressed via trade or draft.

do you think vjax scares teams?  mike will?  dougie?  how many teams have 4 "scary" guys?  clark will be replaced by ogletrees speed, smiths saavy, and crabtree.

Stocker started at TE. Clark came in as a move TE.
