I'm greedy; I want Demps to become our Darren Sproles!

That would require heart.....and i'm not convinced his heart is into football
He may not like getting hit, that would explain the track choice.
If that was the case he would have never signed up to play football in the SEC  either.

SEC is not NFL

Well considering he's never played in an NFL game or felt a live NFL hit , you've just destroyed your own premise.

Hell, i've never played in an NFL game either but it doesn't take a genius to know the level of intensity is turned up a bit in the grown man league.

You are reaching ....just admit the reason probably has nothing to do with being "afraid" .  If it did he wouldn't have made it in the SEC either , where they bring hats to the party every saturday.

I don't think anyone is calling him a puss.  At least I am not.  Some guys just dont like getting hit.  The hardest hit he will take in track, is the tape breaking across his chest.

Lol @ reaching. No need for that. Question for you.....what  do you think happened to Dexter Jackson 2.0?
The SEC is not the NFL , as the SEC is not Appalachian State .  Not to mention Dexter Jackson showed us he was scared in games , Demps has never shown the propensity to shy away from hits .

You , on the other hand , are competely speculating with no evidence to back up the claim of being scared . I watched Demps take serious shots all through his college career and get up and run even harder afterwards.

1st hit in this video.

I don't buy it for a second . The guy just likes running track.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

I think you're the one reaching. I said i don't think his heart is into football. Where did i say he's afraid to get hit?

I thought Lovie said he wanted quickness & speed, even at the QB position?

Anti-java is actually who said it , you only alluded to it by comparing him to Dexter Jackson.

I agree his heart is not in it , at the moment , but it's only because of his love for track .  He still sounds like he wants to play when track season is over .

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

I think it takes a special talent to be successful at this level when your heart is elsewhere... and Bo Jackson/Deion Sanders he is not. I'd be shocked if we get anything outta him.

The dude looks tiny in those youtube clips above.  And that is college ball.  He would be even more mismatched  in the NFL.

Demps...................5-7.....175lbs.

Tavon Austin       . 5-8......181

Even Tavon is bigger.

True, but he may have come to that conclusion after playing college ball.  He may be thinking, why destroy my body playing NFL football, when I can run track.

beat me to it. exactly

If that's the case then he needs to retire, stop wasting the Bucs time, and payback the Patriots the money he got from sitting on injured reserve.

In 5 years this guy is going to be manically depressed be caused he shelved a chance at the big bucks to run footraces

This guy...

True  , but he could have a change of heart . He does like playing football , right now he has just placed priority on something he likes more . Could change though , that's why it doesn't hurt to hold his rights .

Even Tavon is bigger.

He is small , that's no secret , but he's mostly just going to be a kick returner in this league ( something we desperately need ) and a role player who can come in for a couple gimmick plays a game and give defenses headaches  .  The size really isn't that big a deal for what he will be asked to do.

He's never going to be asked to carry 30 times up the middle of an NFL defense.

The Bucs have excused return specialist Jeff Demps from their mandatory minicamp, per Bucs GM Mark Dominik

We will be Carolina ready when we are Carolina ready.

Assuming he were to make the US World Championship team this would make no sense.

No argument. Just stating something i read today. I would have to dig around to find where I read it though.

He can roll out of bed mid-november and return kicks better than anyone on our roster.
