Here is a WSJ article about the defense attorney that has been representing Florida athletes including Hernandez.  Not much to it so far, I hope they keep digging into it.

The manager that had his eardrum burst by Hernandez dropped the charges after being contacted by UF coaches and legal staff.  He now refuses to comment, which may be due to a prior settlement agreement.

ACLU = AGENDA

Well, yeah.

Agenda = "To defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States."

Wow, they say they're the good guys so they must be!! Everything in the world is black and white.

The ACLU was created to protect those liberties.  But how those are protected and how one defines whether they are being infringed is a subjective matter.  And the ACLU falls pretty consistently to the further edge of one side of the political spectrum.

Republicans are not exactly a friend to civil liberties. Patriot Act is a good example of that. But conservatives also do not tend to protest in favor of more humane treatment of prisoners. So of course the ACLU tends to trend liberal.

Bowen is in prison because the angry mob couldn't get at the perpetrator, and our politicized legal system placated them with a surrogate.

I read an interesting article today.  The guy that is spilling the beans on Hernandez, is not the most trustworthy of individuals. He was using not only hear say, but double hear say.  A lot of his info will never hold up in court. But they used it to secure the search warrents, it was good enough for that.

Its just a minor point, but I thought it was interesting, that when the cops told Hernandez that his friend was dead, he couldn't have cared any less.  No emotion or surprise.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

Agree    It indeed was a total travesty of justice... Girl was far more of  victim than anything.  The guy killing himself caused the whole issue.. The public and police wanted to do it.

she REPEATEDLY lied to the police about who he was.  Sure, he was a bad guy and she was a "victim" in the sense of her dealings with him, BUT the reason they threw the book at her was primarily because she REPEATEDLY . . . not just once or twice .  .REPEATEDLY . . .  lied to the police and the result of that is the police did not know who they were dealing with.

two different juries reached that conclusion, as did several appellate court and several judges . . .

And this is precisely the type of thing the ACLU was founded to protect against. They have strayed far, far from their beginnings.

"REPEATEDLY . . .  lied to the police and the result of that is the police did not know who they were dealing with."

Let us hope that in the future officers don't let their safety ride on the friends and family of the people they're arresting ratting out their loved ones at the first opportunity. Seems like in their line of work a miscalculation like that could get you killed.

Frankly, I'm in awe that so many people would stand behind the argument "there's no way police officers could have known that the tattooed biker they just picked up for shooting a kid might be dangerous. His family should have warned them."

At least he didn't punch the arresting officer.
