Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik could have his work cut out for him next offseason as the team could have as many as 20 unrestricted free agents, headlined by quarterback Josh Freeman and wide receiver Mike Williams.

If Freeman balls out, then only he and Williams are MUST keeps. If he doesn't, then just Williams.

Is this an indication that the contract for Williams isn't really "close"?  Pay the man...

The majority of those can be resigned for cheap.

Pretty sure Williams will be locked up at some point during the season.

I think they get Mike's deal done soon.  And as far as Freeman, if he stinks it up this season, offer him a low ball contract.  If he balls big time, offer him a fair contract, and if refuses, tag him for 2014.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

nearly half of those guys may not make the roster this season let alone be a concern to re-sign next year.

Looks like Mike Williams is gonna have to wait until Dom locks up Myron Lewis long term. Can't take any chances with him hitting the open market next year. I've heard that some teams have structured their spending over the last few seasons just to have a shot at Myron in 14. Get it done, Dom!

Here's the thing though, I've read that we have 118m already committed to the 2014 season without those 20 players. It's a pretty sure bet that Dom is figuring on carrying over some 15-16m of this years cap to pay for those players, but Williams is going to cost $6-7m of that money and Freeman is going to be another 10-12m if we sign him so that pretty much puts us up against the cap next season with only those 2 players, so how does he expect to pay for the other 18 players or their replacements next season?

It will be interesting to see how Dom manages the cap going in to the next few years. I know he has plenty of deals that he CAN restructure and create cap room, but in the past he has avoided signing bonuses and long term debt. But I don't see how he can avoid it going into next season unless the plan is to let Freeman walk and go with the cheaper Glennon next season and even that is only a temporary solution. At some point, the rookie contracts expire and we need to retain the players, so it seems to me that long term debt is inevitable.
