People enjoy the luxuries of watching the HDTV in air conditioning, cheap beer, cheaper food, and the ability to change the channel ad lib when a game gets to out of hand. Going to games isn't a big deal for many of the former season ticket holders who are now staying home. This is a big fairweather fanbase filled to hundreds of thousands of transplants - that combination make for a lot of open read seats during games, imo.

Perhaps folks have been convinced the team will lose because of the qb - Lord knows enough of that spiel goes around on this board.

the stadium was full with QBs crappier than Freeman under center.

That's because people were there to see the defense, not the offense.

At a minimum you should be able to bring in 1 factory sealed bottle of water per paying fan.  It gets down right nasty hot those first few games.

I don't live near Tampa and obviously don't know as much about this as a lot of you guys, but to me, it seemed like the firing of Gruden and the release of Brooks upset a lot of fans, and couple that with a poor start to the Raheem Morris era, and it was enough turn a good amount of fans off of the team.
