I'm a big fan of Barth but I think I can live with this injury, Tynes will fill in just fine.

Does placing him on the NFI list mean we don't have to pay him this year?  Or is that strictly a contract issue?

Buccaneers sign Lawrence Tynes, place Connor Barth on NFI list
Posted by Mike Wilkening on July 17, 2013, 11:21 AM EDT
Buccaneers placekicker Connor Barth will miss the 2013 season with an Achilles injury suffered while taking part in a charity basketball game, the club said Wednesday.
The club also announced it was placing Barth on the reserve / non-football injury list instead of injured reserve. The Bucs said Barth suffered the injury Friday.
To replace Barth, the Buccaneers tabbed one of the top veteran placekickers left in free agency, adding former Giant Lawrence Tynes.

The 35-year-old Tynes connected on a career-best 33 field goals in 39 attempts in 2012 for New York, which signed kicker Josh Brown in March.
“We are disappointed to lose a productive player like Connor, but are very fortunate to be able to sign an experienced kicker at this time of year,” Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik said, according to the club.
Barth, 27, connected on 28-of-33 field goals in 2012. He signed a four-year, $13.2 million contract last May, per Rotoworld data.

The Bucs got a good kicker in Tynes. I'm sorry that they had to get him out of desperation. but he is a great clutch guy who's extremely reliable. And another former Giant lol ;)

Hope Barth recovers quickly. He was becoming one of the best in the league.

I think it sux for Barth more than it does the Bucs.  Can he file for unemployment.

Wonder if Nate Kaeding is rethinking that retirement right about now.

It sucks that we lost Barth, but given the situation we are incredibly lucky that a great kicker was sitting there b/c his team didn't want to pay him.

Well, that's a career as a buc.

They can get injured elsewhere, then get brought in. But if they get injured here...buhbye.

Naismith was right about Revis. Everyone else is a dummy.

Good job Barth, right when our team is primed for success. Right when we have everyone healthy. I saw you say you on twitter Friday that you were playing in this game and thought to myself, why is he playing bball, he probably will suck and get hurt. Why not a charity soccer game?......i hope this gets us out of his contract, i'm sure your days in Tampa are numbered now. So much for that extension. Will probably never be the same......Yayyyyyyyyy let the injuries begin..
