TAMPA —

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson, in the midst of his seventh NFL training camp, has a message for Tampa Bay's fan base.

Chill out.

The Bucs were outscored by a combined margin of 69-37 in dropping their first two preseason games against Baltimore and New England, respectively. Patriots QB Tom Brady conducted a first-quarter clinic Friday night, completing 11 of 12 pass attempts for 107 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown strike to new target Danny Amendola.

Goldson, a hard-hitting Pro Bowler signed from San Francisco as a free agent, didn't sound overly concerned about Tampa Bay's sluggish start.

“It's going to be very exciting,'' Goldson said. “We've got a lot of talent on this football team, a lot of talent. Once we get everybody rolling, it's going to be electrifying out here.''

When asked to speak directly to Bucs supporters frustrated by an 0-2 exhibition record, Goldson kept it simple.

“Calm down,'' he said.

With a season-opening matchup against the Jets less than three weeks away, WR Tiquan Underwood echoed Goldson's perspective on the relative importance of preseason games.

“This time of the year is about guys competing for jobs and their roles on the team,'' Underwood said. “There's a lot of different personnel going in and out. It's not about your record, it's more about how guys are performing. You're not looking at what plays will work best against these teams. Once Sept. 8 gets here, that's when we'll worry about wins and losses.''

As good as it gets

Bucs rookie QB Mike Glennon thought he knew just how special Brady was. Then he watched the two-time Super Bowl MVP operate from the sideline and learned to appreciate him even more.

“You can tell the command of the offense he has,'' Glennon said of Brady, who is 136-39 as a starter. “It was nice to see how well he knows their offense, how accurate he is and how well he anticipates. He knows where all 11 guys are, you can tell.''

Tampa Bay will face Brady again in Foxborough in Week 3. In two previous regular-season matchups against the Bucs, Brady is 2-0, throwing for 566 yards and six touchdowns while posting a passer rating of 114.9, his best against any opponent.

“He knows exactly where he wants to go and where the mismatches are,'' Glennon said. “That's why he's as good as he is.''

Getting there

In the spring, Bucs coach Greg Schiano challenged DE Da'Quan Bowers to reach double figures in sacks this fall.

Although Bowers has struggled with conditioning in training camp, Schiano still believes in the potential of Bowers, a second-round draft pick out of Clemson in 2011.

“I'm not frustrated,'' Schiano said Monday. “There are certain days that I'm disappointed that we didn't do more, that we didn't get it better, but he's making progress. As long as he keeps making progress, he's going to be a great player.''

Extra points

RBs Brian Leonard and Michael Smith (toe) are nursing minor injuries, Schiano said. ...More than 150 local law enforcement and Fire and Rescue officials, including their families, attended Monday's morning practice as Schiano's guests. ...Bucs WR Mike Williams is eagerly awaiting the return of injured Pro Bowl guards Davin Joseph and Carl Nicks. “With those guys coming back, it seems like we've got everything in the right place right now,'' he said.

It is amazing how every single freaking year, posters on this MB freak out during preseason.  All I worry about are injuries to key players.

Still am.

Go Bucs.

Chill out indeed.

Didn't leave. Its been too pathetic and sad here to even think about posting. Boards are **CENSORED** now.

Surely you're not implying I'm a troll. 99% of my posts are of substance. Need to research or reread before blindly casting troll stones.
