So many in the press and on this board are certain that Schiano initiated the move to bench Free.

The evidence just doesn't seem to support this view.

At Monday's press conference, Schiano says that the Bucs have the best chance with Freeman.

Monday evening Schiano is preparing to leave OBP for an activity he had planed for early Monday nite.

Instead Schiano has a meeting with Dom.

Schiano described this meeting as INTENSE.  This seems to indicate a difference of opinions.

Tuesday morning is a meeting with the entire coaching staff informing them of the decisions to bench Free and asking for any feedback.

Then the Glazers are informed of the decision.

Around Tuesday at noon, Dom has an interview with USA Today in which he says:  "I have seen enough of Free."

In the Bucs last 6 games,the Bucs have scored 0, 13 22, 17, 16, and 3.

Hard to argue that there wasn't a basis for a change.

But for so many to load up and put the burden on Schiano is just not supported by the evidence.

The evidence shows  the initial thrust came from Dom.  He is Schiano's boss, he is in charge of drafting (a QB in the 3rd round) and he is in charge of contracts (no extension offered to Free.

Free has become so passive, it seemed that something had to be done.

But using the change in QB as an opportunity to complain more about Schiano, just isn't supported by the evidence.

You really believe dom had to force Schiano to bench a quarterback he clearly never liked that had been playing like crap favor of a quarterback he tried to recruit back in his Rutgers days. Yea. Whatever

And as for Doms comments to USAtoday, to me it looks like he's trying to distance himself from a failed first round selection. Dom has more to lose by benching Freeman than Schiano. I can't imagine the scenario playing or the way you did.

Schiano had no plans for a meeting late Mon afternoon with Dom.

Schiano a few hours earlier had stated that Free was his best chance to win.

Schiano describes the meeting as "intense." You don't have an "intense meeting unless there is a  difference of opinion.

The evidence seems to indicate Schiano had no intention to bench Free until after the meeting.with Dom.

Chances are when Schiano said the meeting was intense, he's just granting Freeman the public respect that it's not easy to bench a 4-year starter. He just wants it to sound like they gave him every chance and it wasn't an easy decision. You don't want to say it only took 5 seconds to decide a man's career, even though that's probably all it did take.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

I think the intensity of the meeting came when Schiano learned he's probably on the hot seat.

Freeman is the scape goat for why the offense isn't working.

The coaching staff is the reason we aren't succeeding and any idiot with two eyes can see it

He probably convinced dom n others we can be more successful with his longtime crush Glennon and they approved

It sort of looks that way if you look only at that one day.  If you look at the last year and a half, it looks different.

Considering the mess Schiano inherited, I think that once the smoke clears,  a lot of facts and info will be public to help us understand the reasons for many of the decisions being made.
