CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 8, 2006) -- Carolina Panthers  starting cornerback Ken Lucas missed practice with a groin injury and is questionable for a Nov. 13 game against Tampa Bay.

Center Justin Hartwig, who reinjured his groin late last week, also missed practice and is listed as doubtful.

"He had a little setback late last week in the weight room," coach John Fox said of Hartwig. "We're going to be put him on the shelf and see how that comes along."

Hartwig was signed to a five-year contract in the offseason, but injured his groin in the season-opening loss to Atlanta and hasn't started since. Geoff Hangartner has taken over as Carolina's center.

Lucas was injured in the second quarter of Carolina's loss to Dallas on Oct. 29 and did not return. Earlier this season he was plagued by neck and shoulder injuries.

Both of Carolina's starting receivers missed practice. Steve Smith was excused for a death in the family, but is expected to practice Nov. 9. Keyshawn Johnson sat out with an illness, but is listed as probable on the injury report.

Not that it matters....the Bucs haven't been able to capitalize on other team's injury problems lately.... although I'd say the best performance the Dline has had getting to the QB this year came against Carolina's rag-tag Oline in week 2.
