The Chicago Bears turnaround

Everyone seems to be forgetting that Chicago was 4-12 in 2004 and drafted ahead of us when we chose Caddy. At the time, they had a very young defense with a few veterans, a couple of weapons on offense, like Thomas Jones, a young QB, and plenty of money to spend on free agents. They turned it around very fast in 2005, finishing #2 in the NFC with a bye in the playoffs. It only took 2 years to re-haul that defense and have it playing at its current level. We can turn this franchise around next year, in a hurry. Have patience. We were a botched 29 yard FG from being the #2 seed in the NFC last year, with 5-11 talent. Gruden is the right coach to right this ship. Just give him the weapons and talent. If he can’t do anything next year. Then can his @ss.

yes the 2004 Bears were a poor team, but turn-arounds like that are the exception not the rule.

You have to look back farther than that though. Just like Dungy had some great young defensive players to work with when he walked in the door, Lovie walked into Urlacher, Briggs, and Alex Brown.  He was able to sign some very good offensive lineman in free agency with the cap room he had, and drafted Tommie Harris 1 pick before us in 2004. (I always wondered if we would have drafted him had  they not.)

The Bears are very good team, but I  still don't think they're built for the playoffs. Rex Grossman is not good enough to carry them if their run gets stopped,and their Run D is supsect.

The Bears drafted Cedric Benson, Splinter Back.  Most of the time he's picking splinters out of his butt.

So whats the point of saying they drafted ahead of the Bucs?

it will take a master jetdi to do what we need to do in FA and the draft, its like we have one shot to get the mix of players. it might take 2 or 3 year

The point is...they were worse than we were and are now on top of the NFC.
