McCown would be #1 if he got a fair shot.

McCown has a lot of work to do before he'd be a legit #1 QB.

He would already be a legit #1. The only thing preventing him from being an elite, yes elite, starter is experience and the opportunity.

why aren't teams knocking on the Bucs' door to inquire about trading for a "legit #1" named Luke McCown?

A. How do you know if the are or aren't? Do you have Bruce Allen's phone tapped?
B. Why would the Bucs trade him?

We'll see what happens. The guy who wanted him here in the first place is gone now.

SoB is awful, maybe as a #3 but Luke earned the right to at least be the #2 with the last years pefromance.

If the FO brings in SoB then it could be a clear sign that Plummer will never come to Tampa and the FO knows it.

I'd like to see Luke step up and take the #2 job, but has got to improve his game. He was sacked more than 10% of the times he dropped back last year, and is a career 75 rating QB who has more INT's than TD's.

I believe we'll see Garcia, McCown, and [insert drafted rookie] for the 2008 opening day roster, and I am quite good with that.

His career rating at Tampa is only 75? (and  his "career" rating is how many games?)

Counting his time with the Browns?

I am not concerned with his performance with the Browns.  As a Buc this season, he was a good QB.  For the most part.  As a backup.

Yeah, he's a decent backup QB. We'll see what happens with him now that his biggest backer has left the team.

Gruden left?

We all know how Gruden is with QBs.  And before busting his knee, he was quite keen on him.

Not sold.
