losses would still be bad.

apparently not since we're ignoring UGA's losses to South Carolina and Tennessee in your scenarios.

Who is ignoring them?  Who had one loss that should be in my playoff scenario that isn't?

Everybody had two losses last year, for god's sake!

You don't see how taking a 3rd/4th place team from the SEC over a team that won their conference championship into a 4 team playoff makes the season meaningless? Really?

would the goal be to get the best teams in the playoffs, or make it so everyone is represented?

Everyone wouldn't be represented.  I think winning a major conference should trump someone who finishes third in theirs.  We don't know that OSU wasn't the 2nd best team in the country last year.  We just know that they weren't the best.  It's the opinion of some (actually most) that UGA was better, but we don't know that.  We do know that UGA finished 2nd in their division in the SEC because they lost to two teams that most would also say were inferior to them.  That's playing yourself out of contention in my book.

If we're going to talk playoff it would have to be at least 8 teams in my opinion.  The 6 BCS conference champs plus two at large teams.  12 teams would even be better because then you could give a couple more automatic bids and have a couple more at large teams.

I'd love to see an 8 team Playoff.  Even a 4 team playoff would be an improvement.  But first they need to standardize the Conference Champs. Either every conference has a championship game or none do.  It is absurd for OSU to go to a BCS when they didn't even play the second best team in their conference (Wisconsin)

Would that really matter considering all the criticism that the conference gets for being weak?  I ahve no probelm with everyone playing a conference championship game though.  Again, I think that adds to the excitement at the end of the season.

That's true but a conference championship game doesn't guarantee that either if you're splitting the conf up into divisions ..... every plan has its' warts, just some are bigger than others.
