Dawkins drops out, 'Skins S Taylor added for Pro Bowl
Feb. 5, 2007

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was added to the NFC's Pro Bowl roster Monday after Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles withdrew because of personal reasons.

Taylor, who will be making his first Pro Bowl appearance, was a first alternate when Pro Bowl rosters were announced in December. He had an erratic season -- making only one interception for a defense that ranked 31st in the league -- but he led the Redskins with 129 tackles and showed ability to intimidate wide receivers with jarring hits.

Taylor, the No. 5 pick from Miami in the 2004 draft, joints left tackle Chris Samuels as the Redskins' representatives to the Pro Bowl, which will be played Saturday in Honolulu.

That just disgusts me.  It just goes to show that the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest.
Besides, shouldn't Sean Taylor be in jail.
Jermaine Phillips had better stats than Sean Taylor this year. [banghead]

Jermaine Phillips:

Sean Taylor:

I wish they had added a missed tackles and out of position stat to that list as Phillips ranked 2nd in the league in both trailing only Will Allen.  Also, look at the difference in Passes defended

But still, how could Taylor make the Pro Bowl.

Yeah, but does Phillips have as many personal fouls as Taylor? He's got a long way to go.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

Taylor's stats just don't jump out at you as being impressive.  If Taylor is the best saftey in the NFC, than our conference must be really weak at saftey.

Well he's not the best, hence why he was a late add ;)

The probowl vote is not always about stats.

What else do they base it on?

Fans vote.  Do you think they compare stats?

No I knew that fans, players, and coaches all count as 1/3 of the votes each, but I wonder what the coaches and players base it on.

Who would you put in instead of Taylor?.... and lets be serious and not bring up Phillips.

The man should not be in the pro bowl - his history on and off the field does not support it, and his only name recogntion is not for positive reasons.
